- - - STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEND-OFF! - - - Let's give our Girls Varsity Soccer Team an AWESOME SEND-OFF this Saturday morning as they head out to Hersheypark Stadium for the 2021 PIAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! SIGNS! SIGNS EVERYWHERE!!! Make a sign or poster to cheer on our Girls Varsity Soccer Team! Wish them luck! Let them know how proud of them we all are! And the Mars Area Soccer Club will post them along the high school drive.... Make them big! Make them colorful! Make them awesome! ...BUT MAKE THEM QUICKLY! I know, it's short notice. But the girls are heading out at 5PM Friday afternoon. So, to get the signs all set up, we need you to make them quickly then deliver them by 10 AM Friday morning. REFEREES TAKE NOTE: GOAL OR NO-GOAL? This is why positioning as an AR (Assistant Referee) is so vitally important; why as referees we must anticipate the game, must anticipate the critical moments of a game to be in precisely the right spot at the right moment to be able to clearly see the critical events of a match and make the game-altering calls. Is this a goal or not? Remember: to be a goal, the ball must FULLY cross the Goal Line. The call on the field: No Goal. How...ever, the Keeper makes contact with the ball, actually deflecting the ball into the goal. The ball clearly passes behind the right goal post. The Keeper then wraps her arm around the outside of the goal post, swats the ball from the outside of the goal through the net, and deflects the ball back onto the field. When a ball passes into the net, the default call is "Goal." From the vantage of the camera, this is a goal. Only if the AR is precisely on the Goal Line and can clearly see that the ball is deflected back onto the field before completely crossing the goal line, or in this case, completely passing behind the pole, can this be called back as no-goal. Given the tempo of play, that would be a remarkable save indeed. Was the AR in the right spot to make this "no-goal" call? Unfortunately, the video does not show the AR's position. See more

After almost an inch-and-a-half of rain in just the last 12 hours, our field look less like soccer pitches and more like the set of Swamp People. So, unfortunately,... ALL MARS AREA SOCCER CLUB FIELDS ARE CLOSED FOR ALL IN-HOUSE AND TRAVEL PRACTICES FOR MONDAY, MAY 10TH.... Fingers crossed that with some sun and good, steady, wind things will dry out quickly and we can back out on the fields soon.

Due to the snowfall this morning, and the continuing cold temperatures, ALL MARS AREA SOCCER CLUB PRACTICES ARE CANCELLED for tonight, Wednesday, April 21st.

TRAVEL PLAYERS NEEDED! The Mars Area Soccer Club is looking for players to round a couple of our Travel Teams! We have specific openings for the following: - Boys born in 2011 or 2012 wanting to play on Sunday Travel or Saturday "Mini-Travel" teams, - Boys born in 2007, 2008, or 2009 wanting to play Sunday Travel soccer,... - Girls born in 2007 or 2008 wanting to play Sunday Travel. All teams are Recreational Soccer. And "travel" is pretty local and usually less than an hour.
