At MAXWELL’S HARDWARE Tommy is busy arranging the new display of Fashionable Straw Hats just in time for Summer Lawn and Garden Care, a nice variety of styles and sizes to provide sun protection to avoid skin damage block out the heat, or just look plain stylish. Did you know historically (traditionally the second Saturday of May) was celebrated as Straw Hat Day which was actually an official day were men would switch from their winter hats to their summer straw hats.

On the morning of May 5, 1862, 6,000 French troops stormed the Mexican city of Heróica Puebla de Zaragoza to bring it under French rule. The Mexican soldiers were outnumbered, but they fiercely fought back. By early evening, the French had retreated. This victory known as Cinco de Mayo (which translates to the Fifth of May) is celebrated by the people of Puebla, Mexico. The holiday is also widely celebrated in the United States.
