CASE #1 THE CASE OF THE MISSING HIKER! Aleister Bartly is a rich business man and a thrill seeker. A month ago, he b...ooked a trip out of the country for himself and his business partner. They were both hikers and they decided to go climb the mountains and hiking trails of Japan. A month later Aleister returned from the trip and he told police his friend had an unfortunate accident and went missing in the mountains of Japan. Nobody could find him. Mr. Watson read about this in the newspaper and told Mr. Holmes about it. Mr. Holmes was intrigued by the story, but something did not seem quite right to him. Sherlock ask Watson " What travel agency did they use to book their tickets and do you have the number?" Watson obtained the number to give to Sherlock. Sherlock then spoke briefly on the phone with the agency where the trip was booked, explaining that he is a dectective and he wants some information about the trip that Aleister Bartley booked to Japan. Watson waited patiently until the end of the call. Sherlock hung up the phone and said "We must make our way to Scottland Yard at once!" We must inform them that Aleister Bartley is a guilty man and that his business partner was murdered. Watson responded to Sherlock. "How could you Possibly know that?" "Its elementary , my dear Watson!" How did Sherlock Holmes know that Aleister Bartley was a murderer? (a piece by Mildred T. Walker)

May 4, 2021 Dear Residents, Family, and Friends: This has been a good week here at Maybrook. We are enjoying the color green and allowing families to visit, the beautician to make hair appointments, and small group activities starting. ... The residents will not be tested this week as we are out of Outbreak status. Our staff will continue to be tested per CDC and PA Dept. of Health regulations. Pharmacy services will be offering the COVID - 19 Moderna vaccine on 5/7 for our residents and staff. If you want your loved one to have the vaccine and have not given consent, please call Ashley our infection control nurse at ext. 3452. Just a few updates and reminders. Visits can be scheduled with Kris in Activities at ext. 3503. We are doing our best to accommodate family needs and meet everyone’s schedules. We appreciate your continued patience with this process. As the weather permits, we will be scheduling visits on the S1 patio. You will drive around the back of the building to the black fenced area. We have designated some parking spaces there with visitor signs. Please take advantage of this chance to come and see your loved ones. We are still encouraging 2 visitors per visit over the age of 18. While we encourage you to visit, we ask you to continue to drop all items off at the front desk and not bring it along to the visit. This allows us to maintain our inventory system and allows the staff the opportunity to focus on preparing you for your visit. The front desk is available 8am - 7 pm Monday through Friday to help with your needs. Med Options our psychology and psychiatry provider is now done. Their company was sold. We have a new provider Senior Care Therapies who will be providing these services. We expect them to start next Monday, May 17th. We will keep you updated as we move through the process. Next week is national nursing home week and we have many fun activities planned for our residents. The theme this year is Together Through the Seasons. Monday will be spring and our residents will be doing a gardening activity and having fresh fruit. Tuesday will be Summer day with ice cream sundaes and beach themed activities. Wednesday will be Fall and we have a campfire with smores. We also planned a musician who will be performing campfire songs. Thursday will be a Winter theme and Dan and Gala will be performing outside on the activities patio with residents being able to go out and enjoy some music. We will also be doing cookies and hot chocolate for the residents. Friday is our Hawaiian day and we will be having a Tiki Cart with cheese, crackers, fruit punch and other goodies for the residents to enjoy. We hope to have a great week of fun with everyone! Stay tuned to our social media for pictures. As always, we are here if you need anything. Have a great week ahead. -- Heather Grimminger LNHA, Administrator - Maybrook Hills

January 8, 2021 Residents, Families, and Friends, 2021 is here. Here at Maybrook, we have seen about 170 residents and 100 staff receive the first COVID injection and are looking forward to our second injection in a few weeks. Unfortunately, we have seen a small increase in our number of cases, 5 residents and 1 staff this week. Be assured we are continuing to be diligent. We have adequate PPE, diligent cleaning procedures, and screening processes for residents and staff. Dep...artment of Health was here on January 4th and found no concerns with our infection control processes. At this time, we are only allowing compassionate and end of life visits that must be approved by administration. Be assured, if that changes, we will let you know. We continue to work closely with Blair County Emergency Management, Pennsylvania Department of Health, Center for Medicare, Center for Disease Control, and other regulatory agencies. We continue to test all our staff 2 times a week and our residents 1 time each week. Please continue to direct questions to your guardian angels or a member of administration. We are happy to help in any way we can.
