Town of McCandless Police Department

Thank you to the McCandless Democratic Committee for surprising us with a lunch delivery from Monte Cello's today! It was much appreciated and won't last long!

The McCandless Police Department will be collecting items this year for the North Hills Community Outreach through December 16th. We will be accepting new toys, blankets, cleaning supplies and paper products for the pantry, and gift cards. The drop box is in the police station lobby. Thank you in advance for your support and Merry Christmas.

A big thank you to KFC/Taco Bell, for supplying both lunch and dinner to the McCandless Police Department yesterday. It was much appreciated and definitely didn't last long as evidenced by the empty boxes pictured.

A big shout out to Stephanie Kerchner, who dropped of a very nice pumpkin pie for the officers who will be working this Thanksgiving. Unfortunately some vulture just couldn’t wait, and scarfed down a piece that should have gone to officers on the holiday. Disgraceful... ... Ok it was me.

We would like to inform the public regarding some temporary changes here at the McCandless Police Department, as it pertains to police services and Covid-19. Much of this will seem familiar, as everything old is new again. For those reports that are non-emergency in nature, and in instances where it is practical to do so, we will be handling the reporting process over the telephone. This is in an effort to reasonably minimize close contact. The non-emergency number for pol...ice dispatch is 412-473-3056. Additionally the police administration can be contacted by dialing 412-369-7992, however as indicated, this is an administration line. This would be utilized for contacting individual officer’s voicemail, contacting the records department and the like. As indicated in a previous post, fingerprinting at the station will be halted for the time being, as well as medication drop offs. In addition to this, vendor permit applications are being temporarily halted as well. We will certainly inform everyone when there measures are no longer in place. Rest assured, officers will still be out and about, and responses to emergency calls will not change, save for the PPE being worn by officers. Stay healthy everyone.
