Instructor Spotlight... My name is Derick Lewis. I have been teaching at McCann School of Business and Technology for 2 years now and still love everyday I am involved in students lives. I started off at a school similar to this which was Lehigh Valley College and graduated with my Associates Degree in 2007. From there I went to Strayer University where I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and continued to obtain my Masters in Business Administrat...ion focusing on Management. I have worked in the Mental Health/Behavioral Health field for 7 years before working in recruiting. I have worked in recruiting both for students and employers for a total of 4 years. On the employer side I also worked on the human resources side as well. My motivation to teach comes from two core ideas. The first idea is that I want to be the role model that I wish I had growing up. I wish I had more of a driving force to teach me the real life aspects of work and obtaining an education because just like you, I had an idea of what I wanted to do but through work and asking questions I found out about other areas that I can grow in and have pursued. The second idea is that I want every student that I interact with to think. I want my students to not only think about themselves and what keeps them motivated but I want my students to also think and analyze other people and find out what motivates them. As I say in class "If you can figure out why someone is in front of you, you can motivate them to do anything." I look forward to being your instructor here at McCann!
