LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT TIPS ON PREMISES LAUNDRY SOLUTIONS TODAY'S TIP: PREPARING TO RAMP UP AFTER COVID-19... Once businesses start opening up to a greater extent, those operating Laundries need to act wisely. The vaccine appears very close; hopefully most of us will be vaccinated by late spring and get free of the devastating pandemic. Since last Mach, certain segments of the industry were impacted for some time by a decline in the volume of laundry processed. Many are slowly recovering, while others have closed their doors forever. Laundry production in healthcare facilities has varied by geographic location. Many hospitals and most nursing homes and senior living centers have experienced a greater demand for clean laundry. Fire companies and EMS companies have also been seeing a demand for cleaner outer gear. While many laundries have rebounded and even grew production during Covid-19, you need to start planning now for the return to normalcy. If you haven't already done so, make sure you take an inventory of all your laundry supplies and check with your vendors to confirm product and parts availability moving forward. Remember, adequate supplies on hand should not mean hoarding. If certain equipment has been sparingly used because they are old, test run them to make sure they are in operational order. Check soap boxes for clogging and dryer vents for lint that can cause a fire. Check bearings, seals and belts on Washer Extractors, and if the machine is at the end of it's productive life, buy a new one! It will never be less expensive than today to purchase a new machine. To assure success, manage by the numbers to maintain goals and to properly prepare for the gradual return to normal.

LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT TIPS ON PREMISES LAUNDRY SOLUTIONS TODAY'S TIP:... WHY "IN-HOUSE" LAUNDRIES MAKE SENSE, ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC Outsourcing laundry makes sense for some business like Hospitals, because their labor costs are much higher, and they have limited space. In general however, the cost of outsourcing is too expensive for most operations. Numbers do not lie, when you put pen to paper and look at the cost of utilities, labor and machine operation; the bottom line is that the per pound cost is two to three times more than the cost of doing it on site. The Commercial Laundry will charge you more per month than 10% of the purchase value of your equipment. You can see how quickly your operation will be losing money. Besides cost, the most important reason for In-House laundries is QUALITY CONTROL. To be profitable, the commercial laundry must burn and churn and generally run at a fast pace and cannot ensure a high standard of quality. Quality is even more important during a pandemic because you don't want variables of protection from outside your walls that can endanger your residents. When you consider that SPEED QUEEN Laundry Equipment will last 15 years or more, it is an even more prudent investment. Some hotels in high demand areas, could use their laundry area for revenue producing rooms, which could make the cost of outsourcing more attractive. However, most hotels need to have On-Premises Laundries to protect valuable accreditations for high quality that come from on-site laundries. Today's SPEED QUEEN Commercial Laundry Equipment makes it easier to be more efficient thanks to technology. The equipment uses less water and less energy which creates another saving in labor cost, because the wash and dry cycles are controlled by you so there is no waiting for laundry to be finished. During the pandemic, many on-premises have used their equipment to its full potential and are thinking about newer purchases, additions or replacements for their laundries Look at the options offered that can help the Laundry Manager keep the operation efficient, safe and with a healthful outcome. Investing in higher quality equipment can turn into a long term cost savings and safer for the health of your employees and those who depend on your laundry services.
