March 8, 2021: International Women's Day MCSN is proud to celebrate along with Montessorians everywhere. We recognize the contributions of our own woman citizen of the worldMaria Montessori: revolutionary, feminist, physician, pedagogue, champion of the young child. We also pay tribute to other strong women educators, leaders and role models in our community including our own Montessori teachers. We thank them for the work they do!

Winter Play at MCSN! Outdoor time lends itself to active play, and winter is no exception. Having children spending time outside even in cold weather demonstrates to families the critical role time outdoors plays in children’s healthy growth and development. As children play they work their large muscles, building strength and stamina. Active play builds the immune system, which, along with fresh air, helps children stay healthy!

What is Sensorial Learning? Sensorial learning is a component of Montessori Education that stimulates the child’s five senses; taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing. This allows children to use their senses to explore and understand the world around them. It includes activities that help them study objects, colors, textures, tastes, numbers, and situations. We believe that doing and allowing our children to engage in sensorial activities is how they learn best.

Gratitude is being thankful and ready to show and return kindness. At MCSN, we encourage Thanksgiving every day by expressing thanks and gratitude to those in our community.
