A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 8 PM EDT

Our crews just cleared from a reported commercial fire. Caller reported smoke coming from the building. Upon arrival 171 Chief confirmed smoke coming from building. A trash can was on fire in a bedroom and was removed prior to Fire dept arrival. The engine crew assisted 203 with checking for extension and ventilation. There was no extension. 201 was on scene for roughly one hour.

The engine just cleared from a reported vehicle fire on West Run Road. Upon arrival Pd reported a well involved passenger compartment fire. Both 201 and 203 engines stretched a line for fire attack and exposure of the hillside. Crews were on scene for roughly one hour.

Crews just cleared from this accident with injuries on 8th Ave by the flyover. One person was transported with minor injuries. 201 and 203 cleaned up debris and fluids while 292 blocked 8th Ave and Whitaker way while crews did clean up and vehicles were hooked to the tows. Units were on scene for roughly 1 hour.

A cold front will begin to push eastward today. A couple disturbances will travel northeast along the front. This will bring rounds of showers and some isolated thunderstorms to the region. A few strong to severe storms are possible with damaging winds being the main concern.

Radar Update: Storms are training just north of our county warning area and we got one cell in eastern Ohio (that storm has a history of pea size hail). At the moment, storms are not looking severe. Stay tuned to see if the situation changes.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the higher elevations of Preston, Tucker, and Monongalia counties with 5 to 8 inches of snow expected. Elsewhere, 3 to 6 is expected from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. A fast change over to snow is expected Thursday afternoon.
