I know it’s going to be a lot of posts, and I’m asking a lot to share every time, but we have to get the message out. The more we share each other’s posts, the ...more the general public will see them. We HAVE to make them see what we could lose...EVERYTHING. Share, share, share!!! #WeArePaHorseRacing

Different angle and type of photo, but the changes that have been made in a year are quite the sight! We still have further plans, but we’re getting there!

" 'Am I a good rider?’ She asked, pensively, sat upon her 14.2 cob, covered in poo stains that she couldn’t quite get out before her lesson, that she had per...suaded her mum to buy a year ago for just 400. (It wasn’t wanted anymore) ‘Why do you ask that?’ Her instructor replied, for she knew how this young girl felt, her eyes often lingered somewhere inbetween her horses ears or the other side of the school when teaching. ‘Because I want to be one’ Her instructor pondered on this for a good few minutes, whilst reassuring the nervous cob in front, and then said, ‘A good rider is not someone who buys flashy horses and competes every Saturday and makes it to the top within a year. A good rider is not who jumps the highest jumps or owns the fastest horse. A good rider isn’t made just because they’ve been riding since they were 3. A good rider is not someone who can move their forward horse forward... no A good rider is that pony clubber you see fall off every time she gets on something new, yet still gets back on with a smile on her face, A good rider is that girl who cries in the tack room because of how her horse behaved and how hard it’s been to cope watching everyone else be successful, but to her it seems like she is the only one failing, yet still rewards her horse with a treat and a smile because at least he was better than last time, A good rider is the boy with the angel horse, yet doesn’t claim any of its successes for himself ‘It was all him’, he would say, I just sat to it’ A good rider listens A good rider is soft A good rider makes sure the horse is always happy, As a matter of fact, a good rider often has nothing to do with the riding, If you love it, and you try, and you try again, even when you fall off and it was your fault, even when people point because your seat isn’t quite as deep as they’d prefer, if you never give up, That’s what makes a good rider.' As many have heard, there have been recent outbreaks of Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Ohio and Pennsylvania resulting in deaths of non-vaccinated horses. There... have also been recent human fatalities associated with these outbreaks. Due to these recent events we have put together some information and guidelines regarding the disease. Eastern Equine Encephalitis is a disease transmitted to horses and people by mosquitos. The disease is caused by a virus known as a Togavirus. EEE is NOT transmissible from horse to horse, horse to human, human to horse, or human to human. The virus MUST go through a mosquito to be contagious. Symptoms of EEE in horses include severe lethargy, fever, twitching of the neck and face, and a weak/staggering gait. Horses affected with EEE will progress to being down and unable to rise. This disease carries a 90% fatality rate in horses that contract it. As part of our yearly wellness program at Allegheny Equine horses are vaccinated against Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Western Equine Encephalitis, West Nile, Tetanus, and Rabies. The vaccine against EEE is very effective when administered correctly by a veterinarian once yearly. At this point in time Allegheny Equine is not recommending any additional vaccine boosters to protect your horse as long as they have been vaccinated within the last year. If you are unsure of your horse’s vaccination status or your horse has not been vaccinated in the last year, we recommend that your horse is vaccinated immediately. Please call Allegheny Equine at 724-325-4615 with any questions or concerns. Thank you for entrusting us with your horse’s care. See more

Eastern Equine Encephalitis confirmed in three Pennsylvania counties. Four animal-related cases of EEE have been confirmed in Erie, Monroe, and Carbon counti...es. Because of its high mortality rate in humans and horses, this mosquito-transmitted disease is regarded as one of the most serious in the United States. Throughness and how to get it with Steffen Peters Don’t let him trick you into too much contact. He is allowed to go into your hand, but not an ounce more. N...ever cover up in training, never one stride with too much in your hand. One ounce too much will build up too much tension; shorten the frame creating the reason to let go of the rein. Don’t accept that when you engage him, he becomes more rigid bend him in, bend him out, test if the suppleness can match the engagement. Make him looser when you collect him. When I collect, can I keep him supple? If you don’t test him, he’ll test you. Expose him to a touch more suppleness in extension and collection a little more throughness. If you don’t ask for throughness you won’t get it. http://www.horsemagazine.com//wow-a-clinic-with-steffen-p/ See more

WEEKLY MOTIVATION For all our followers just starting out in either riding, or with a youngster, project, difficult horse, newly backed or just hitting a wa...ll in training here’s some Monday motivation for you. Photo’s 4 years apart of the same horse. Remember building new skills & muscle in both yourself and your horse takes time and patience and lots of learning mistakes before getting it right. Remember to not be disheartened when your pictures are not perfect at the start. When learning something new you usually feel like your starting from the beginning again as your body adapts to new feelings and moments. Tell yourself these are perfectly normal. It’s perfectly acceptable to not be perfect. . . Screen shot this photo and whenever your having a tough week in your training or feeling disheartened have a look at this to remember with hard work you won’t stay in the same place forever. #TeamHH beautifully produced by @maelys_brillant Horzehoods France All Horse Wear available at www.horzehoods.com See more

Beautiful spring evening to ride! Whitney took Reggie out back to the conditioning hill, and jumped some of the smaller cross country logs. Reggie is working on her fitness, and definitely has regained her vigor for cross country fences after having some time off (1.5 years) to have some sinus surgery and recover from the surgeries!

Since the weather was fairly favorable, we decided today was the day to light the stick/tree debris pile. Too bad we didn’t have any marshmallows or hot dogs!

Between one of our favorite vets being based nearby, and all these improvements, something tells me we will be making more trips that way!

So many legends in our industry come from a Thoroughbred/Quarter Horse cross (such as leading sires Dash For Cash, Easy Jet, Chicks Beduino, Favorite Cartel an...d Jess Good Candy). We need to make more of an effort to reintroduce Thoroughbred bloodlines back into our breed to increase endurance, longevity and a badly needed out-cross for our Quarter Horse mares. Into Mischief and Mitole are two once in-a-lifetime opportunities to do that. Robicheaux Ranch See more
