On this day in 1933 Prohibition ended. While Prohibition was ratified in 1919, it didn't take effect until a year later. Crawford County was ahead of the as an area judge denied Meadville Distilling's license renewal in 1916. Soon after whiskey production was for medicinal purposes. Eventually Meadville Distilling's inventory was shipped to Kentucky and the company made a failed attempt to produce ginger ale. When Prohibition was repealed, the company's former master distille...r tried to bring Meadville Rye Whiskey back to prominence using the original recipe but things never off the ground. Fast forward to today, Meadville Rye Whiskey is back in production using the very same original recipe used over 120 years ago. When will it be ready to pour again?
