Exciting message from the Center City Eruv for the new year: The Center City Eruv is UP The South Street Bridge connection is UP... THE CENTER CITY ERUV HAS BEEN EXTENDED! The Center City Eruv has been extended south! This was a monumental achievement for the Philadelphia Jewish community. We would like to thank all who were instrumental in this process. Special thanks to Andres Catalan, for countless hours mapping the route of the Eruv; Rabbi Refoel Szmerla and Rabbi Stephen Belsky for constructing the Eruv; to the corporate offices of the Philadelphia Gas Works and the entire site team at 3100 Passyunk Avenue for allowing us access to install essential Eruv infrastructure; to Rabbi Dov Brisman, our Rav HaMachshir who spent many hours discussing the project with us; and to Rabbanit Dasi Fruchter and Rabbi Eliezer Hirsch for all of their help and guidence in getting the extension constructed. We will post an exact map of the Eruv after Rosh Hashana. For this Shabbos, please use the following guidelines: The eastern border of the Eruv is I-95 The western border of the Eruv is the Schuylkill River The northern border of the Eruv remains at Poplar Street The Southern border of the Eruv follows I-76 in most places. To ensure you stay in bounds this week, do not carry south of Oregon Avenue. Best wishes for a shana tova!
