Back in Central Pennsylvania for Easton’s baptism yesterday at a church that’s close enough to Carlisle that we couldn’t resist the urge to visit one of our fav...orite small businesses in the area. Mersidas Market (just down Route 11 from the Carlisle Barracks gate) is a true gem! Mersida is from Bosnia and Herzegovina and we’ve got some mutual friends from my last deployment there. So, last night, for the first time in a long time, we enjoyed an amazing dinner of evapi, kajmak, ajver, fresh-baked bread, and shopska salad topped with real Travnik cheese! I closed my eyes as I savored the first bite of evapi and my heart was with dear friends back in Sarajevo! My military friends in Pennsylvania who have deployed to the Balkans really need to check this place out! Prijatno!
