Messiah University Women's Lacrosse

Another unforgettable day of 2020 was Feb 26th when we battled against Dickinson and worked hard for a total team win! We were down by one with about 2 minutes to play in the game when Heather Burnham made a huge save to give us a chance to tie it up. Shortly after, Abby Howard buried her free position shot, to make it 11-11 with about one minute left to play. Grace Gormley fought hard for the next draw control and we called a timeout. We drew up a play to finish our next sho...t. But as the play ensued, Dickinson defended what we wanted to attack so it opened up the top of the 12m and freshman Grace Gormley saw the lane, took the opportunity (and the contact) and scored the game winner! BUT, the game wasn’t over as we know 16 seconds left on the clock was plenty of time for Dickinson to score so the next draw was the game winning draw and freshman Rachel Delate won it and we won the game! What a joy it is to play the best sport their is and what fun to walk away with a hard earned team win! See more

One of the very best highlights of this fall was thanks to Messiah Athletics! On October 31st we had a fun and very competitive inter-squad scrimmage that went back and forth all game long. The white team battled at the very end of regulation to tie it up and send the game into OT. Both teams had possession in the overtime period but the blue team pushed the fast break goal for the win. What a gift it is to play together and what a fun day!!

Another 2020 highlight was Jterm break! We had ice cream in Harrisburg, we prepped for the season, we accomplished a tough team building task together and we started practices on our beautiful turf!
