MAN are we excited about this Saturday for D&D Open House and Show cattle clinic. Show Rite Feeds, Hubbard, and Weaver have really stepped up with lots of givea...ways. Come checkout Duff's new set up for milling your custom feed mixes and learn how you can step up your game with preparing your cattle for the showring. Looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting some new friends. We are starting at 9am with check in and Introduction of your host. These big dreams may or may not end up in the winners circle. You may or may not have your picture at the backdrop, but the big picture, the one that matters, t...hat one is always with you. The early morning trying to beat the sun into the barn, the smell of cedar fiber, and the low bawl of your heifer as she comes to greet you. Working that rice root brush till you arm hurts and doctoring to that rope burn when the two of you may not have been such good friends. There will be ups and downs, excitements and disappointments, sweetheart, that’s life, all of it. Keep that close to you. There is more to the reasoning of you showing cattle than winning, it is to teach you about life. In those quiet moments, all by yourself, no crowd, no camera, just you. Never forget to work hard, at everything, you may not win but you’re bound to climb the ladder of success much faster if you know how to tear in and accomplish your task at hand. Be kind, to your heifer, to yourself, and to that person who just won the show, you will find these people are the ones to learn from, to pattern yourself after. What do they do, how can you do it but better? Be modest in your achievements, you will stand at the bottom way more than you stand at the top. There will be many moments by yourself, in the quiet of the morning or late at night when no one is watching but God up above, these are the moments that make winners darling, in the barn, and in life. Own what you do, you won’t always lead the best one but hold your head high, be proud, and show her like she’s a National Champion, do that long after you’re done with a lead rope. Find those people who are willing to teach, to help, to mentor, they are out there, watch, learn, listen, and ask questions. The road to success isn’t straight, it isn’t easy, but it’s beautiful, enjoy that beauty, look for it everyday, those sunrises, the dew on the grass, the smell of final bloom, and the feel of a scotch comb in your pocket, the little things make the big things all that much sweeter.
