Middletown Fire Companies Spill Unit-50 was dispatched this morning around 7:30 am to assist Brookhaven Fire Co. Station 52 Delco, Pa on a large fuel spill originating from Edgemont avenue. Crews worked for upwards of 4 hours containing the spill before it was turned over to Delaware County Hazmat and Environmental Clean Up crews. After some afternoon training, Squad and Engine 50 responded with Rocky Run Fire Company to Rt.352 and Rose Tree road for a 3 vehicle accident.

Crews have stayed fairly busy the past two days, handling 7 calls so far since mid day Saturday. Squad-50 w/5 while filling in for St.53 Broomall Fire Company were dispatched around 3:15AM this morning to Newtown Township for a house fire. Squad-50 arrived as first due engine company, stretching a hand line to extinguish an outside fire with extension to the rear porch. This afternoon, Squad-50 w/6 was directed from CFD station 81 to assist Chester Fire Department on the 3rd Alarm for a fire on Lamokin Street. Squad crew operated in an exposure and was released back to the township a short time ago.

Just after noon on Tuesday Engine 50 responded to Concord Township on the second alarm for the dwelling fire. E50’s was also dispatched to handle an automatic alarm in the 100 block of Locksley Rd in Concord Twp while units were committed on the building fire. Photo credit CFPA
At 10am On Mother’s Day our firefighters along with Rocky Run FD & Brookhaven Fire Co. EMS responded to a tractor trailer on fire in front of the Elwyn Pharmacy on Rt 352 southbound. Squad, Engine and Tac 50 made the response along with the Traffic 50 units. There were no injuries and the highway was reopened just after 11am. Photo credit RRFD
Santa’s had a very busy afternoon here in Middletown today! If you missed him he will be stopping at Elwyn Shopping Center (Rt 353 & Glen Riddle Rd) around 4:45p prior to heading back to the North Pole. Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday’s

Just prior to 2pm our firefighters responded to the the Media Bypass NB at mile marker 388 for the auto accident with entrapment involving several vehicles. Asst Chief Mellon arrived to find one of the cars on its side with the driver trapped.
