"When I was a little kid I was afraid of thunder. My grandma told me not to worry and that it was only the sound of the angels bowling in heaven. To this day, when I hear a loud crack of thunder I just can’t help but picture a heavenly-sized bowling strike with 10 pins down and hands up high-fives. Thunder and storms can be scary, but they also provide experiences that we’ll never forget like when the lights went out and your family was forced to play Uno by candlelight. ...I may have done that once or twice in a storm. Or watching a storm can become a reverent experience. They cause stillness as we observe the power and strength of it all. Scary or not, experiences await us during the storms. The same is true of storms in life. Have you ever askedWhat am I experiencing in this storm? Or a deeper questionHow am I experiencing God in this storm? As we continue in the story of Jonah there is a powerful experience to be had in this specific storm. It is for the sailors, and Jonah as well. Let’s gather around Jonah 1:7-16‘Experiencing God In A Storm’this Sunday. I hope to see you there!" ~Pastor Ryan Join us SUNDAY at 10AM inside at the church & online https://millersvillebic.org/visit
"One of the best memes I have seen this year was a video clip of a man frantically mopping the ocean. He runs into the ocean about ankle-deep, starts mopping his way back to the bucket, rings out the mop, runs back into the ocean, and repeats this process. In and of itself, it provokes humor. The line at the top of the meme: Me trying to control all of the things I cannot control. I started thinking, 'Am I doing that?' Trying to control the uncontrollable is like moppin...g the ocean. Jonah has boarded a ship headed far away from Nineveh, where God had called him to go. There’s just one problem: the living God plans to disrupt his departure. As an uncontrollable storm threatens the ship, the captain turns to the only one left who might be able to control the situation. Who is in control, after all? The theme ‘God is in control' joins other relevant takeaways in our next scene, Jonah 1:4-6. I hope you can join us this Sunday!" ~Pastor Ryan SUNDAY at 10AM inside at the church & online After storytellers and puppet friends share a Bible story, kids attending in-person can head to the gym for a lesson and activities. On Sunday the kidSPACE team shared about how Jesus often prayed. In Luke 11:2-4 Jesus taught his followers an example of a way to pray. Some of our children shared prayers too, like Make things right in our world. Help my grandma get better. ... Help me remember during my math test. Help me forgive others. Please help me be brave. Keep me from sneaking cookies. Help me to have courage. We can all talk to God, we can pray about anything, anywhere.
Press on toward the goal, Press on to win the prize, Leave the past behind for God has called you home through Jesus Christ.
It was great to see all who joined us for worship - both online & in the building. And also thank you to today's greeting team and all of our other faithful helpers!

For the rest of the world, it probably seemed like an ordinary night, but for the shepherds, they knew that it was not an ordinary night. The world was never the same. Thanks Zeke, for sharing the story from the perspective of the shephards and animals - and reminding us that the GOOD NEWS of JESUS is for EVERYONE <3

Carol and Dwight's Advent wreath represents 8 different countries/regions where people have experienced the incredible joy and good news for those who trust in Jesus! This Sunday, we light the Advent candle of Joy. We invite you to have your own Advent wreath near you, or even a candle, to participate with us in this practice. We will follow the Christmas story with the shepherds who were the first to hear the good news of great joy to all people.
