Listen to the Evolve podcast, "America's First Bat Mitzvah". The first American bat mitzvah took place on March 18, 1922. As its 100th anniversary nears, we’ve got something of a departure for our podcast. We’re running an episode of Adventures in Jewish Studies, a podcast of the Association for Jewish Studies. Evolve: Groundbreaking Jewish Conversations co-sponsored this episode. Guest scholars Rabbi Carole Balin, Melissa R. Klapper, and Rabbi Deborah Waxman consider the history of the bat mitzvah and its evolution over time. They also explore how the bat mitzvah helped pave the way for greater inclusion of women in public Jewish ritual and practice and helped shape American Jewish life. https://evolve.fireside.fm/20

There are many racial justice rituals and liturgical resources on Ritualwell for your use, (https://www.ritualwell.org/search-results?Q=racial+justice) and you might also want to do some study from the Evolve racial justice section in honor of George Floyd’s memory. (https://evolve.reconstructingjudaism.org/category/justice/) Join the National Museum of Jewish History called the Torah of Blues: A conversation with Rabbi Sandra Lawson and Jerron Blind Boy Paxton. Rabbi Sandra has been writing about the ways that, blues music communicates the hopes, sadness, and beliefs of ordinary people doing the best they can, living their everyday lives, https://fb.me/e/1rluYkdxT

It's a challenge to teach about the holiday of Sukkot over Zoom, but our amazing teachers found creative ways to inspire our students. Check out this amazing Sukkah that one of our Gan students was inspired to make during class!
