I'm not saying it'll take a full 20 years, but it certainly won't happen overnight!
I say this all the time: If you have the desire, it's never too late to start! https://stringsmagazine.com/am-i-too-old-to-learn-violin/
I'm SUPER PROUD of the great job my students did at our holiday recital! Here are a few photos from the event.
Very interesting... I learned a few things by watching this, and you will, too.
My first student recital since opening my own business is happening this coming Sunday! I am excited, the kids are excited, and we hope to see you there!! Admission is free.
Parents, send your pics from the McKeesport Festival of Trees. Mine didn't turn out. [email protected], send your pics from the McKeesport Festival of Trees. Mine didn't turn out. [email protected]

Congratulations to my student, Owen, who moved up in size to a 3/4 cello! That big smile is there because he loves the big sound!!
Please come to hear this great youth orchestra play!
My new student, Kambria, just played her first duet ever! She is learning how to hold down her own part while I play a different part, which can be very distracting when you're not used to it. But she did very, very well, and I'm looking forward to playing more duets with her! Way to go, Kambria!!
Congratulations to my viola student, Olivia, who was accepted into the PMEA All-State Orchestra! She worked very hard to achieve this honor, and I'm so proud of her!
Welcome to my Facebook page! I plan to use this space to share information about music theory, good practice habits, the benefits of studying music, music history, and much more. I'll even throw in a joke or two now and then! Please be sure to "like" this page and share it with your string-playing friends as well. :-)
Here's a helpful article about bow distribution with some easy ways to work on it.
Students, please read this excellent article on how to practice. Very good tips on how to make the most of your practice time! https://interlude.hk/how-to-practice/
What a fun arrangement of the Pink Panther, played only on cellos! The piece used pizzicato (plucking the strings), harmonics (high-pitched flute-like sounds), glissando (sliding the fingers up or down the strings), and col legno (striking the strings with the stick of the bow). What other techniques do you notice?
Just when I thought I'd seen it all, Jackson came up with a very "creative" way to use his bow! LOL
I have some students who need to take this to heart. Please be patient with yourselves! Stringed instruments are very difficult to play, and all of you are making progress and getting better and better!
Playing an instrument helps form stronger connections in our brains. https://www.studyfinds.org/musicians-super-connected-brai/
