Thank You to those who have been patiently waiting for their memorial bricks (and for their checks to be cashed). I know it has been a long time for some and apologize for the delay. We have finally surpassed the (30) orders that our engraver requires to do a set up and engrave a batch for us. At our Board meeting on April 14, I found that we had actually accumulated (38) orders. I am waiting on one more that's in the mail and 4 being hand delivered. So, all good news! I will check all the orders for spelling, spacing, # of letters, etc, and hopefully deliver them to the engraver this week. If all goes well, we should have them on display before Memorial Day. Again, I apologize for the delay. ...JOHN R LONG

In 1846 a group of Old Order Amish from Mifflin County moved west and settled in the area of New Wilmington. In 1850 the newly established Amish community in New Wilmington split, due to various differences, and John Kanagy formed a separate Mennonite congregation that eventually became known as the Maple Grove Mennonite Church. The Mennonites shared the same basic religious beliefs as the Old Order Amish, but were less strict in accepting the ways of the modern world. #mtjacksonmuseumpark
The residence of I.N. Phillips stood majestically at the corner of Grant and Beaver streets in New Castle, PA during the Civil War. Now this area is in the industrial section of New Castle. #mtjacksonmuseumpark

Dr Joseph Ginsberg was a 32 year old, first Lieutenant in the US Army when he was taken prisoner. Dr Ginsberg said I had been treating the front line casualties and was en-route with the wounded to a field hospital when they told us it was all over. They surrendered to the Japanese on April 8, 1942. 76,000 prisoners of war, 15,000 were American. Dr. Ginsberg was a prisoner of war for 45 months, before he was able to come home to New Castle, PA. #mtjacksonmuseumpark

Shenango China company started in an 1901, but ran into many financial difficulties. It really didn’t take off till it was headed by James N. Smith. He was a novice in the pottery business. Under his direction, the company began to grow. Mr. Smith has always been considered the founder of the company. He was a man determined to succeed, if a machine did not do what he wanted, he built his own. #mtjacksonmuseumpark
