Even though the calendar says March 1st the weather is still perfect for ice skating.....Memorial Park Ice Rink is ready and waiting for all the skaters.....weather can change on a dime so take advantage while you still can.

Had a couple minutes today to visit Montrose Memorial Park & soak up some Vitamin D. Themometer in the sun said 64, but the air temp was really only 48. (Ha, 4...8 & sunny on Feb 21st.) As I sat, the old 3 o'clock carillon from the Presbyterian Church began to play. Took me back to lower High St, 1959. 3 & 6 o'clock if you were outdoors, you could hear them. As I thought, I wondered how did we get from then to now. I remembered playng on the tracks(& inside the cola chutes) with my brothers. Bet Mom never knew how we got that dirty. At the corner of Mill & High was Youngbood's Bakery with the smell of fresh bread filling the neighborhood. Summertime was always the park in the AM, usually some in the afternoon til we had to walk up to the furniture store & help do whatever needed doing. Then home with Dad at the end of the day & the 6 o'clock bells. As I sat there, it seemed like centuries ago & yesterday at the same time. So many memories of smalltown life 60 years ago. See more
