At the beginning of December, the sign of Sagittarius reigned. That planetary energy and burst of enthusiasm certainly came in handy, with all the negative news... and anxiety that is in the air as we all try to make holiday plans. Connect with people you love and who lift your spirits. Around the time of the Winter Solstice (today, December 21), we switch seasonal gears into earthy, practical Capricorn. The Goat's practical influence is a good thing during these winter days since it helps to get us organized and make sure our home is stocked with what we need to keep the "home fires burning," so to speak. Remember that in ancient times the winter months were a frightening time of year. Food was scarce, the Earth was barren and cold, and people were afraid that the Sun's sustaining warmth and light wouldn't return and they would perish. To ensure the rebirth of the Sun's strength, and people's survival, they would hold Winter Solstice celebrations. Capricorn's influence is a welcome asset as the old year comes to a close. It beckons us to focus on what we really want and need to create and manifest in our enchanted lives for the New Year. And the big astro news is that Saturn in Aquarius is joined by Jupiter, the Bringer of Good Fortune, in Aquarius and they come together today, December 21st as the Sun enters Capricorn, the first time they've come together in an Air (ideas) sign in 200 years. So what does their historic cojoining herald, besides being so close to one another that they look like a single very bright star like the star that led the three Wise Men to the birth of Jesus Christ? Well... we must do all we can to stay centered and grounded and have strong values and beliefs that can withstand anything that we encounter. This is not only possible, it is vital, crucial, and essential.
