Mozdzer Ecology Lab

10 years ago we measured how different plant species respond to current and near future climate change scenarios at the Smithsonian GCREW. Additional experiments by collaborator Peter Müller brought this data set across this finish line. I'm happy to announce our newest collaborative paper was published in Nature Communications. This paper is freely available to all (Open Access). In our study we describe how plant species shifts, due to sea level rise, and elevated CO2 concentrations will alter coastal wetland methane emissions. Briefly, our study suggests that greenhouse-gas dynamics are very sensitive to global change factors, and our findings will help improve models on greenhouse-gas dynamics in coastal ecosystems.
