Dear Friends of MRAC, The Manayunk Roxborough Art Center has been part of the cultural scene in the communities we serve since 1953. The love and dedication of the artists and our supporters that has contributed to its longevity, and it has served as a great opportunity for emerging artists, established artists, and for kids and adults taking classes to grow in the arts and humanities. Like all other arts institutions across America, MRAC has suffered lost revenue during the... Covid19 crisis by having to close our facility, canceling Exhibits, Classes and Literary and Performing Arts events. We have also been advised that funding for the arts in 2021 is likely to be cut from the budgets of local, State and the federal governments. Our 100 MRAC members are rallying to bridge this funding gap. We are making personal contributions (beyond our regular annual dues) and we are re-imagining our activities in order to do as much as possible online. You can find examples of our member’s artwork on our website and we are planning our Annual Juried Art Exhibit as an online event in August. While eagerly awaiting re-opening as soon as public health authorities permit, we are making important building repairs and improvements. We ask you to consider joining us in this effort to keep the arts alive in your community by making a personal contribution. Whatever amount seems feasible for you in the current public health and economic crisis will be a very welcome and a very encouraging sign to your local artists.
