The idea of taking a day to prepare a special meal and feed your loved ones is a universal American tradition - no matter your religion or ethnicity - we all celebrate this day is a similar way. Basic elevator = lost opportunity - We papered the walls and ceiling of this one with 4 different colors using a @starkcarpet vinyl, upgraded the lighting and hardware, and commissioned tape artist @jaywalkerstudio to create a floor installation ! And yes the pattern references the @roylichtenstein a happy accident, my fave kind. And then there were none... truly the end of an era - Lee Radziwill was an icon in every sense of the word. New York Times reporter Charlotte Curtis observed in 1961, that she was the epitome of all that is considered chic, and therefore elegantly understated, in the world today. She may be most remembered for her personal style, but her instinct for interior design and decoration is also legendary. I’ve come back again and again to images of her 1960’s London drawing room and more recent Paris apartment. Both completed with the help of talented interior designers but clearly influenced heavily by their remarkable client. There may never be another quite like her.

I like to include at least one @knollinc piece in my projects. They manage to feel simultaneously modern and timeless and contribute a sense of provenance and importance without being overly serious or formal. This living room recently featured in @archdigest is no exception. Note the pair of vintage Platner arm chairs. So I was sad to learn of Florence Knoll Bassett’s passing. Although she retired many years ago, it feels like the end of a magical era. Notably a chandelier comprised of dried dandelions by @studio.drift for @carpentersworkshopgallery, nightstands by Philly’s own @bddw_etc @thistylerhays and a custom chair in the style of Pierre Paulin’s iconic Elysee Chair which he created as part of a commission by then President Georges Pompidou for his private apartment in the Palace. Tres chic, non?
