October is LGBTQ History Month. To honor Buffalo's rich history of LGBTQ+ activism, we teamed up with Albright-Knox and local artists Mickey Harmon and Ari Moore to create a new pride mural on the side of Q Bar on Allen Street. See how the project came together. #communitybank #equality #inclusion
Kids today were born into a digital age and are much more comfortable in front of a computer screen or other device than previous generations. But how much do they really know about how to be #BeCyberSmart? Now is a great time for a family discussion about cybersecurity. #communitybank
To close out National Disability Employment Awareness Month, check out this profile on our employee, Amy Graff. Amy Graff, Scrum Master in Credit Risk Oversight, has an uncanny ability to see the positive in most any situation. She’s smart, determined and has high-energy. She also has a rare form of muscular dystrophy (MD). At the age of 40, Amy was diagnosed with the genetic disorder that affects her from the knees and elbows down, causes muscle atrophy, and sensitivity iss...ues. Six years after her diagnosis, Amy was in a serious car accident that further exacerbated her MD. As a result, Amy wears custom-made braces on her ankles for stability and everyday things like buttoning pants or putting on jewelry can be a struggle. She jokes with a smile that as the muscle atrophy affects her foot movement, she's not the typical woman when it comes to buying shoes she hates it! "I don't let my disability define me. I am aware of it, I do recognize my restrictions, but I'd never let my situation define me," she says. Amy is on the steering committee of M&T’s Disability Advocacy Network (DAN) Resource group and works to ensure that our decisions are inclusive across the bank. DAN is a forum for people who self-identify as disabled, are taking care of children with disabilities, or are caregivers for adults with disabilities. We hold a quarterly Share a Story event, now virtual, to offer support and a safe space for employees to talk about their experiences. Some have even shared their diagnosis with others for the first time. Prior to the pandemic, Amy had a workplace accommodation that allowed her to work from home three days a week. "My manager, Kim has been wonderful. When planning seating at our new office space at Seneca One, she reached out to ask, ‘what will help you and what will hinder you and how can I help,’ so we talked about things like where my desk would be. Of her experience at the bank, Amy says that she's able to bring her authentic self to M&T. Leveraging self-identification has been critical to my success. My manager knows, and I'm very open and communicative about my issues and concerns. #communitybank #NDEAM2020 #inclusion
In this conversation with 80 Central PA CEOs, our Chairman and CEO Rene Jones breaks down why serving your own community is the key to winning the race for relevance taking place in cities across America, and what it means when today’s top talent looks for organizations to be a platform for what THEY want to do and achieve in the world. Tune in for the discussion, co-sponsored by M&T Bank and Capital Area United Way. #CommunityBank
Whether you are currently retired, nearing retirement, or still have many more years to save, you are likely concerned about your retirement savings. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, Economic and Security (CARES) Act created some temporary withdrawal changes for certain retirement plans, designed to help eligible individuals access funds without incurring excessive penalties and taxes. #plansmart

We're proud to announce that Nora Habig has been named president of our central and western Pennsylvania region, replacing Stephen A. Foreman, who retired earlier this year. In her new role, Nora oversees our operations in 10 counties spanning Dauphin and Allegheny. She previously served as group manager for commercial banking in central Pennsylvania for 15 years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead and continue M&T Bank’s growth in central and western Pennsylvania, she said. We have great employees in this region, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with them to help lift up our communities and improve the banking experience for all our customers and business clients. #communitybank
