At 3:37 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) to assist Station 64 for a structure fire at the Steak and Spaghetti House on William Penn Highway. Station 20 responded with Truck 20, Engine 20, and Squad 20. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 64: Station 22, Station 78, Station 30, Station 63, Station 87, Station 90, Station 610, and the Murrysville Police. Command 64 was first on scene, established the ...command, and found a working structure fire. Truck 20 arrived and was positioned to raise its ladder and employ its master streams, while Engine 20 provided the water supply for Truck 30. The fire was fought from the exterior of the structure with multiple master streams and attack lines since the structure was totally engulfed. Once the fire was extinguished, the combined firefighter crews investigated the structure. West Penn Power, Peoples Gas and the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County arrived on scene to make "safe" all utility connections. Command 64 released all Station 20 units once the salvage operations were complete. Truck 20, Engine 20, and Squad 20 returned to service and station. See more

Earlier yesterday firefighters from the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company were participating in drivers training when they came across a good samaritan on Sardis Road attempting to get baby ducks off the road. The ducks managed to go behind our station and tried to cross Old William Penn Hwy towards Ferri’s when the firefighters managed to help the good samaritan stop the ducks from crossing the road and safely placed them into a cardboard box. The ducklings were then safely relocated by the good samaritan into the pond nearby with the ducklings mother.

Another way Station 20 responds to the community. Last night we were asked to be on standby for fireworks at a graduation party. We greatly appreciate the generous donation.
