Michael Gallagher is sharing more ... IMAGES OF 40 YEARS at The Music Box Dinner Playhouse *** *** *** *** The Music Box turned 40 this month- May 1981. Pictured is the first SOUND OF MUSIC (1984) and the last performed in Jan, Feb 2020- presented before COVID insisted we take a break. In between are images of 2 others from 1999 and 2005. Unfortunately, photos from a 1994 production are missing.... T Doyle Leverett who played the Captain in 1981 was one of the theatre’s original founders. Leverett enjoyed a professional theatre career afterwards on Broadway in THE MOST HAPPY FELLA as standby for the lead. He performed in THE SCARLETT PIMPERNEL, was standby for Paul Sorvino in a New York City Opera production of MOST HAPPY... among many other credits. Others pictured who went on to professional careers are Celia Hottenstein ( understudy to Glinda on Broadway) Craig Lee Thomas, seen on TV, and Regina Rockensies, TV’s Dulcolax girl, and Karen Mack is one of NYC’s most popular Cabaret performers for the past 30 years, receiving numerous awards for her work in the City’s many nightclubs!

Here are 2 images: CABARET (1984)- with Kevin Costley as the MC (my personal favorite), directed and choreographed by Bob Niznik, who was prominent at The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre during the 1950’s through the 80’s. And... NOBOBODY LOVES A DINOSAUR (1989), an original musical FOR children written by Debbie Zehner and Ted Anderson. Pictured are Jeff Sedon, Kevin Costley (who also created the costume) and Jason Gallagher, nephew of former Music Box Technical Director and brother to the 1st ANNIE at the Music Box and the first in NE PA.
