Musser Engineering is expanding its team! Please join us in welcoming two new members: Michael Barndt, Jr. and our summer intern Tyler Newell. Michael is a 2020 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Michael, who prefers to be called Woody, brings construction and estimating experience from past internships, and is an American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Altoona scholarship award winner. His ...hobbies include fishing, hunting, camping and kayaking. He can also be seen on local baseball diamonds where he enjoys being a Little League umpire. Woody joins us as an Engineering Technician and has already begun work bringing fresh insight to our client projects. Tyler Newell is currently an Energy and Earth Resources student at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and came on board just last week to discover how his education can be utilized in the environmental consulting industry. He is a member of the UPJ Geology Club and enjoys rock climbing, camping, mountain biking, water/snow skiing, and ice hockey. Our beautiful "Blooms of Hope" certainly are blooming! They arrived just in time yesterday to brighten up the office. The daffodil is considered the first flower of spring and has become a sign of hope for cancer patients and their caregivers. It is therefore the inspiration behind Somerset County's Blooms of Hope campaign, which supports the Somerset Oncology Center and Somerset Hospice. Musser Engineering's Professional Geologist, Ron Musser was recently appointed by Governor Wolf to the Ohio Basin Regional Water Resources Committee as part of the Act 220 State Water Plan administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The Ohio Basin region encompasses several major bodies of water, including the Youghiogheny, Monogahela, Allegheny and Ohio Rivers. As a member of this committee, Ron will work with fellow committee members to focus on... the Ohio Basin's two priorities: reclaiming water resources impaired by abandoned mines and identifying water resources needed to promote and facilitate economic development and provide job opportunities, while maintaining watershed integrity and recreational benefits. Please join us in congratulating Ron on achieving this appointment to assist in the State Water Plan development and increase his insight for our clients.

Today is Steve Keller's 8 year anniversary with Musser Engineering! Steve began his career with Musser as an intern and was immediately hired after graduating as a Survey Coordinator. He holds an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, and has performed almost a thousand surveys for our clients. We are pleased to have Steve as a member of the team and look forward to having him continue to further his career with us. Congratulations Steve!

Musser Engineering was once again proud to sponsor our employee, Bobbie Brubaker, for the 2019 American Cancer Society Polar Plunge at Shawnee State Park! This year the outside temperature was warm, but the lake was frozen over and ice had to be cleared away. The icy waters, however, didn’t stop Bobbie from plunging into them along with two of her recruits, fellow Musser employee Britta Corle and her husband, Logan!
