New hike on MyHikes from 2Adamswalking - Kulish Ledges Trail and Holt Trail Loop - a moderate 4.3-mile loop trail that features vistas of Crotched Mountain and Joe English Hill in southern New Hampshire. https://myhikes.org//kulish-ledges-trail-and-holt-trail-lo
Testing my new night sky camera mount as Milky Way season is upon us! This is the Milky Way rising up and out of Wellsboro, PA’s light pollution. I’d been wanting to buy a true sky tracker mount since I started dabbling in astrophotography in ~2013 and figured it was about time, but I’ll always love my Pentax Astrotracer. This was taken around midnight with a Pentax K-S2, Rokinon ultra wide 10mm lens @ f/2.8, 800 iso, tracked on an iOptron SkyTracker Pro for 4 minutes, no stacks!
Explored and mapped more waterfalls near Wellsboro yesterday evening, but for once was not at Tioga State Forest. These two waterfalls caught me by surprise as I (Dave / Admin) wasn't sure what to expect for these off-trail bushwhack creek hikes. The 1st cascade is approx. 30 feet tall while the 2nd is only about 12. Both waterfalls have cascades that continue down the creeks, extending their height and length to about 50-feet tall and 80 to 100-feet long. Hikers should bring trekking poles, waterproof boots, and waders to explore both creeks. https://myhikes.org/parks/state-game-lands-268
New trek on MyHikes from Tioga State Forest featuring a beautiful waterfall, wildflowers like this Squirrel Corn, and an old abandoned structure. More new hikes on the way, but these trails don’t track and write themselves!
Spent part of Saturday afternoon mapping a short section of the Mid State Trail near Morris, PA along an unnamed tributary with three large waterfalls. I gave them each a name for this write-up to distinguish each waterfall, though none of the names are official. Champagne Falls - approx. 25-feet tall, Tumbling Falls approx. 12-feet tall, and Moss Rock Falls approx. 18-feet tall. The hike then follows a small section of Stony Fork creek before turning back. Our original goal was to also hit Little and Big Falls along Stony Fork but we didn't make it that far. https://myhikes.org/trai/stony-fork-waterfalls-hike-via-mst
