You will still be lovely. You will still be loved. You will be married. You will be celebrated. But I want to say I’m sorry. And I want you to know it’s ok.... It’s ok to cry and to mourn the loss of a day you’ve dreamed about. It’s ok to hurt and be frustrated and even angry. It’s ok to desire a normal engagement season. God is still in control & you’re still getting married. I’m sorry your season of celebration has been met with caution and cancellation. I’m sorry if you’ve felt alone. I’m sorry if you don’t have support. God is still in control & you’re still getting married. While our focus should be on building a strong foundation for a marriage, I think a wedding is still important. And so are your feelings. Please don’t be shamed into silence thinking that your hurt isn’t valid. Because it is. It’s ok if you’re tired. Tired of the changes, tired of the cancellations, tired of the warnings, the concerned family members, the friends who may not be there. I know you’re tired of the losses. You’re changing plans and making accommodations. You’re doing your best. And I’m so proud of you. I’m sorry if you’re tired. God is still in control & you’re still getting married. It’s ok if you’re sad. Sad that you’re not getting the same experience so many others had. Sad that your big day may exclude important people, a big party, and the wedding you’d planned or dreamed about. God is still in control & you’re still getting married. Your feelings are valid. They’re important and they matter. It is understandable. It is hard. And it’s ok to feel. I’m so proud of you. You’re working hard. You’re making sacrifices. There are many things you can’t control. But what a time to rely on the goodness of God! At the end of the day, you will be married. You’ll be with the one you’ve chosen and the one who has chosen you! You’ll be celebrated from afar. You’ll be prayed over. And whether your wedding day looks like you always dreamed of or ends up being an elopement, I pray you walk away with comfort remembering this beautiful truth: God is still in control & you’re still getting married.
