Dr. Dustin Lynch, ANHC aquatic ecologist, recently led an educational event at Lorance Creek Natural Area for Central Arkansas Master Naturalists. The event was... a follow-up to a virtual presentation on Arkansas’s crayfish and an opportunity to learn hands-on about crayfish, fish, and aquatic insects. Brie Olsen, ADEQ ecologist coordinator, assisted in setting live traps, and handling and releasing the catch. A highlight of the day was finding two types of crayfish - a primary burrowing species, the Devil Crayfish (Lacunicambarus diogenes), and a stream-dwelling species, the Ouachita River Crayfish (Procambarus ouachitae) - and comparing their adaptations. #AuthenticArkansas See more
