This fundraiser directly helps people struggling with bills in BA and some in HV. Consider a few bucks. It will help someone.

If you have a spare moment today to consider a few bucks toward this ongoing effort please do. There is a lot of need out there right now. This helps.

We need more help so we can help more people. We want to stay ahead of things at Charity in Action as best we can. We had a ton of success over the holidays raising money for some local folk who need it. But the needs are still present and on our radar more and more.... SO.....please consider chipping in again so we can keep the grocery store cards going out and also pay for some home heating oil for maybe 6-8 people. This isn't going to FIX all the problems out there people are facing, but it sure does alleviate burdens for a spell for people struggling during some tough times. These fundraisers help people in your community. NOTE-If you don't want to donate via Facebook, please consider one of the following: Paypal: [email protected] Paper Checks: Charity in Action PO Box 45 Bryn Athyn, Pa 19009

PLEASE NOTE: @$4000 I am going to close this out so Facebook will start the "payout process", which often takes up to 6 weeks. This lag is a bummer for situations with immediate needs, but it is what it is. Hopefully our soon-to-be website will expedite things. I told Freya I wanted to reopen this fundraiser in a 2.0 version.....meaning you will see it again with another $2500 goal. ... Maybe we can get to that total, maybe not....but any extra over the original goal will only help this young woman that much longer. So that is why you might see this fundraiser again...Helping Freya help someone 2.0. See more

Quick start. Let's get there ASAP so I can close this out and make the funds available ASAP too.... ******** SO when my third grade teacher reaches out and wants to help someone, I listen. Freya (Heinrichs) Fitzpatrick lives down in Georgia these days, and is trying hard within her community to help out with a young woman who they all care about. They need some help. Can we see what we can do to make a huge and necessary impact on a young life?... From Freya: "Julia is the 20-year-old biological Latina sister of an adopted local (Bryn Athyn) boy. She has aged out of foster care. She has suffered horrendous things throughout her young life. To protect her privacy, we are not disclosing the nature of what she has overcome. Suffice it to say that she is fighting against odds that few of us can imagine. Julia is trying to transition to adult life (without foster care support) and although the cards seem very stacked against her, every time she is knocked down, she gets back up and keeps on trying. She has earned her high school diploma. She is working on a medical trade certificate. Freya found a place for Julia to live in Georgia after exhausting a string of Pennsylvania options. The housing is with an organization called Northern Star. Their informed, caring staff are doing an AMAZING job at mentoring her through the process of getting a job, keeping a job, learning to budget and save, etc. But, the cost to support a person in the program is about $1000 per month. They don't currently have that money. They took Julia on faith - literally - with the faith that if they did their part giving her a place to get on her feet, that the money would follow. Already, as she builds her work hours, she is starting to contribute to her own costs. For January she contributed $200. Hopefully in February her earnings will increase and she'll be able to take another step towards self-support. Realistically, what is needed is at least $4000 to get Julia through the next 4-6 months as she learns to take more responsibility for supporting herself. See more
