Our #NeemaSolidarityStomp is off! But it’s not too late to sign up! Link below to register yourself and your friends or family for this fun virtual race that benefits vulnerable young women in rural Kenya. The funds from this race will go toward Neema’s program and also to ensure that all of our students families' needs are met as they transition out of lockdown. Be sure to tag @neemaproject with #WeTrekkedToKenya2021 and #NeemaSolidarityStomp when you trek to Kenya! https://donate.neemaproject.org//solidarity-stomp-/e332638

Vulnerability is how well one can absorb a shock. If a disaster happens and a person does not have economic margin, he or she is #vulnerable. Those in rural areas of Kenya are both significantly more poor and more vulnerable, so when #Covid19 began spreading, many of our students’ families were unable to access work because of lockdown, and therefore began going hungry. In Kenya, about 1 out of 3 people live below the international poverty line. 35.6% of the population lives with less than US$ 1.90 per day and 63.7% of the population with less than US$ 3.20 (World Bank). Visit neemaproject.org/statistics to see the data and learn how you can help!

Irene shared with our counselor how her break at home was good and that her parents were happy about how she had changed. She said she applied what she was taught at Neema while at home and it helped her so much as she could control what she said to people. We love seeing how even a few months at Neema is already having a transformative effect on our students and their families! #HeartTransformation #Restoration #CommunityImpact

With 75% of girls attending primary school and only 8% of girls attending secondary school in Sub-Saharan Africa, access to quality education is a serious concern. (Malala Fund) Retaining girls in secondary education is a critical factor to increasing #femaleliteracy rates.
