* * Lancer Pride and Promise * * Each year, we honor our seniors who have made military commitments at our awards assembly. However, the enormity of their decisions and the sacrifices they are choosing to make are worthy of special recognition an acknowledgement that these students represent the pride and promise of our branches of the military. These individuals were honored at the June meeting of the Board of School Directors as the latest "Lancer Pride and Promise" rec...ipients. Two young men and one young woman have answered the call, as they have perceived a need and have stepped up to fill that need. Each student has committed to a different branch of the military. We will have Class of 2021 graduates serving in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps. Keenan Burkett has committed service to the United States Navy. Keenan will be attending basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center near the western shore of Lake Michigan. Hunter Wilkison has enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was unable to be present for the Pride and Promise recognition as he has already reported to basic training in Parris Island. Olivia Musguire has committed service to the United States Air Force. Her basic military training will be conducted at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas, known as the Gateway to the Air Force. Unable to attend the meeting, Olivia’s parents accepted the Pride and Promise recognition on her behalf. We celebrated close to 100 seniors as they walked across the stage to accept their diplomas on June 8. Each will begin the next chapter of what, we hope, proves to be an exciting and fulfilling life. Nonetheless, NTSD is particularly proud of these four who are putting service to our country above themselves. On behalf of Neshannock Township School District, we honor the pride you bring to our School District and the promise you hold for the United States. Godspeed!
