Network of Hope 04.07.2021

Due to forecasted snow and ice tonight and into the early morning hours, our Hampton food bank will be operating on a 2-hour delay tomorrow. Distribution will now begin at 12pm. If you know anyone who utilizes our food bank, please help spread the word! And stay safe!

2020 has been an exciting year of expansion and growth for our food distribution services! This fall, we opened two new food banks in Deer Lakes and Butler, and now have the wonderful privilege of serving several hundred families MORE each month - 207 people at Butler alone this past Wednesday! This doesn’t just happen in isolation... there are countless donors, partnerships, and volunteers that make all of this possible. And to everyone involved, we are so grateful. Getting to serve the people of Pittsburgh in this way is such an honor. Here’s to 2021 and opportunities to do even more! Also, a special thank you is in order to U-Haul in Butler for allowing us to use their trucks during distributions, ESPECIALLY this week in the snow. Just one example of the partner relationships we are so incredibly thankful for.

We've been so privileged to be part of this amazing food distribution network for so many years, and are beyond excited to see the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is expanding its facility and resources so that we can continue to serve our patrons for years to come!

We want to give a HUGE shoutout to North Hills Toyota and their team for their incredibly generous donation toward us! We’ve had the pleasure of partnering with them for several years now, and their generosity year in and year out has enabled us to be able to impact so many in the Pittsburgh region. On behalf of our entire team, and from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU

SERVE Day looked much different this year than how we originally thought it would look, but we were still able to make a tremendous difference in the Pittsburgh region! Such a fun day with so many impactful moments. Here are some final stats from the day: 30 incredible projects, 340 volunteers, and an estimated 5,000 people impacted. And BONUS: because of the rain, we have some more projects happening in the coming weeks! Thank you to everyone who participated with this day. We love Pittsburgh! #serveday20 #makeadifference

One of our commitments during this COVID-19 season is to respond to the local food needs here in Pittsburgh. In April, between our Food Bank + Boxes of Hope initiative, we served 1,443 people (580 families) across all our campuses We also received 49 pallets of food + supplies from Convoy of Hope and Feed the Children in the last two weeks so that we can continue to be a part of the solution! We’re grateful for those who continue to give their time and resources to make all this possible. Also, HUGE thank you to Langer Material Handling, Inc. and Allegheny Recycled Products for donating forklifts and pallet jacks so we could unload these trucks!

| APPRECIATION POST | We want to take a moment to pause and highlight our INCREDIBLE food bank volunteers! Since the COVID-19 crisis began back on March 12th, this team has stepped up in a major way and worked tirelessly to meet needs. They’ve passed out over 100k meals, exercised extreme creativity in their distribution approach, and have worked around the clock to make our food bank happen with efficiency and excellence. Today, we honor every volunteer on this team. You are truly MAKING A DIFFERENCE in Pittsburgh, and we’re grateful for you. We love you! @ Network of Hope
