National Wildlife Federation Certification Our Bird Town Committee's recent initiative is to have the Borough officially designated as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. In order to become certified as a community, we first need a certain number of properties (including homes, schools, businesses, churches and public spaces) to be officially certified by the NWF as wildlife habitat. We are well over halfway towards reaching our goal!... A wildlife habitat is free of pesticides and provides food, water, cover, and nesting sites. A vital component is native plants, which are often the only usable food sources for native insects and birds. If you haven’t registered your own property yet, please help us reach our goal by registering it now. Applications are easy to complete and can be picked up and turned in at the Borough Administration Office at 45 Keeley Ave. or at the Borough’s Farmers Market during September, when the Bird Town Committee will have an information booth there. The application can also be found and submitted online (https://www.nwf.org/garden-for-wildlife/certify), but if you turn the form directly in to us, we will cover the $20 registration fee from donations we’ve received for this. Once your property is certified, you can opt to purchase a Certified Wildlife Habitat sign from NWF for an additional $30.

A message from the Borough's contracted trash hauler: "WE'RE NOW A PART OF THE WASTE MANAGEMENT FAMILY We are pleased to announce Waste Management, North America’s leading environmental solutions provider, has acquired Advanced Disposal. You may start to see Waste Management trucks in your communities, and you may eventually have your container swapped out. However, for now everything is business as usual. All functions you are used to from Advanced Disposal including you...r services, systems, invoicing and other processes will remain unchanged for now. You will migrate to WM systems in phases over the next 12 months. Until you hear from us again, continue to manage your account through Advanced Disposal." This change will not impact the current contract the Borough has for residential trash service, which runs until the end of 2021. For frequently asked questions, please visit: wm.com/WelcomeADS Additional communications from Advanced / Waste Management will also be going out to Borough residents.

The Borough paving contractor (Bray Bros) is expected to pave Borough roads the next two weeks, including Keeley Ave, Oak Drive, Vine St, Cedar Dr and N Shady Retreat Road (in that order).
