Good enough for NASA, good enough for our patients. This is astronaut Mark Vande Hei having his retina medically imaged with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This is done on our space heroes to watch for Space-Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome (SANS), a disease which includes swelling of the optic nerve head. We constantly post about foods good" for the eyes. What are things bad for the eyes? Remember, tiny blood vessels in the retina provided nutrients & oxygen. Any effect to the heart or vascular system can negatively affect those vessels and cause eye issues. Foods such as mayonnaise, ketchup, salt, rice, cookies, fries (the list can go on) all can have a negative affect on your vision. #moderation
