New Ivy Group 21.02.2022

Here’s a #transformationtuesday sneak peak!! It’s a New Year, New Ivy Group - and I will be launching our revamped website later this month - but enjoy this teaser for now! While 2020 was rough for a lot of reasons, one of the things I’m grateful for was the opportunity it gave me to really figure out what I wanted New Ivy Group to be. I knew I wanted to help organizations that worked on capital projects to organize their operations, develop their people, and find the right t...echnology - but when I launched I envisioned that I’d be working primarily with owner clients in the Higher Ed sector. That was my background and where I thought this company could provide the most value. But a month after launching, COVID-19 hit and Higher Ed had other immediate priorities to contend with. While I could have viewed this as a disaster for the business I was starting, ultimately it was a gift. It allowed me to focus on how to position New Ivy Group as a values first company. Importantly, it allowed me to realize that our services were needed across the design and construction industries regardless of whether we’re building for retail, education, healthcare, residential, or commercial owners. So I pivoted. And that pivot has opened me up to so many great relationships with industry organizations, CREtech startups, CM firms, MWBE subs, and product manufacturers. The pivot opened my eyes to all that this business could be. And now that I know the role that New Ivy Group can play in transforming the way we build, it’s time for a rebrand! I’ve been hard at work on our new site launching and can’t wait for you to see it when we launch later this month! Stay tuned for our go live - and for much more engagement and content from New Ivy Group this year! And thanks for everything you’ve done to help us get to where we are today. #newyearnewivygroup #newyearnewme #rebranding #websitelaunch #comingsoon #dontjustbuild #growwithnewivygroup #contech #proptech #smallbusinessowner #squarespace #webdesign #valuesfirst #womeninbusiness #womenindesign #womeninconstruction #femaleentrepreneur #consulting #coaching #workshops #intensives

I’m so thrilled to be joining the amazing folks at Mindful Hospitality Group and Fulton Commons for this virtual fundraiser event to support Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Aid and their amazing work for the hospitality industry! Hospitality and Real Estate are deeply intertwined, and we both rely on and benefit from each other. At this event, we’ll be sharing ideas and opportunities to work together to support hospitality during these unprecedented times. Your ticket includes ...an Event Kit with ingredients for two cocktails that Cat and Cecil from Mindful will be teaching you how to make! Tickets are limited to get yours today! Hope to see you next Friday for this great event!

This is a huge day. My husband @drcoolguyrick received his first dose of the @pfizerinc vaccine today after 9 months of working on the frontlines caring for vulnerable geriatric and palliative care patients. The relief I feel knowing that he has this protection is immeasurable. He has lost many patients. He has struggled to help others achieve end of life goals with restrictions that protect but also isolate us. I’ve been so worried about him while he’s taken this on and I’v...e been amazed by his resilience in the face of so much grief and so little hope. Today, we felt true joy. But this is just a step on the journey and we still have a long way to go until we’re on the other side. And tragically no amount of vaccine will bring back all those that we’ve lost. This is my business account so maybe this is all over share. But my business is my family. I could not do this without him. His support and our privilege has allowed me to take on the risks of launching a business, and allowed me to keep it going throughout an intense 2020. I envisioned in this first year of New Ivy Group that I’d be doing a lot of conference and client travel as things got off the ground, but COVID-19 had other plans. I slowed down my business plans significantly and took on way more house work and third shift work than I anticipated. I’m grateful that I had the option and ability to shift my focus and help out more at home. But I know this is a microcosm of the burdens and tough decisions women across the country have had to make this year, and so many of them do not have the options and security that my privilege affords. As the vaccine roll out progresses and things begin to ease up throughout 2021, we have to address the way this pandemic has disproportionately impacted women and their work. I look forwarded to being a part of those conversations. And I look forward to the day when the vaccine is available to everyone and we can all feel the relief it provides. For now I want to say Thank You to our frontline and essential workers for all they’ve taken on this year, and to the women who have had to change their career plans for their families. We could not do this without you

I’m a longtime Lawrenceville resident and this year I was honored to be elected to the board of Lawrenceville Corporation where I serve on the Real Estate Committee. So much of what makes community development work is stakeholder feedback, and it’s become a lot harder to achieve that feedback during the pandemic. So I wanted to draw attention to two important meetings this week that have big impacts on the future of Lawrenceville for residents and developers alike: Tuesday... 6:30pm - Inclusionary Zoning IPOD Update - in July 2019 City Council approved an interim planning overlay district requiring residential projects of over 20 units in the district to designate 10% of units for affordable housing. This meeting will update on projects that have built to this criteria to date and discuss what’s next for this zoning district. Second pic shows the IPOD as voted on last July. Thursday at 5pm - Arsenal Park Master Plan Implementation Community Meeting - The first phase of the park’s master plan is moving forward and this is an opportunity for the community to provide feedback on 3 different concepts proposed by @pashek_mtr for the site. This phase will address pedestrian access, ADA pathways, restrooms and shelter, lighting, and storm water management. Third photo shows one of the three proposed concepts. Head to the link in bio to sign up for both of these events! If you can’t attend, each link includes other ways you can provide feedback on these important initiatives, as well as more information on presentations and renderings. And if you aren’t a Lawrenceville stakeholder- take some time today to find out about upcoming meetings in your own neighborhood. Make your voice count when it comes to development! #communitydevelopment #urbanplanning #zoning #masterplan #landscapedesign #parkdesign #affordablehousing #cityplanning #cdc #designandconstruction #arsenal #arsenalpark #doughboy #lawrenceville #doughboysquare #IPOD #communityfeedback #stakeholderengagement #inclusionaryzoning #steelcity #pittsburghdesign #pittsburghdevelopment #newivygroup

2020 has changed so much in Real Estate, Design, and Construction. I’m looking forward to joining the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Construction Law Section tomorrow for a conversation on how the events of 2020 are changing the way we define and asses risk. From COVID-19 to Racial Justice, Sustainability to New Contech, we’ll be talking about specific job sites that have dealt with these issues, and how construction law and construction contracts might adapt to this shif...ting risk landscape. Loved reading these profiles in @incmagazine today on the incredible #femalefounders out there right now! Especially loved learning about the women from @divvyhomes @helgawear and @daughtersofrosie who are innovating in the real estate, design, and construction space! These women are building the future and it’s incredible to see! #womeninrealestate #womenindesign #womeninconstruction #Repost @incmagazine with @make_repost... Meet Sara Menker, one of this year's #FemaleFounders 100, a list of the top women entrepreneurs you should know in 2020. Ticker prices and stock symbols surrounded @smenkerwhen she worked as a commodities trader in the 2000s. But she noticed one field was lacking in data: agriculture. "Nearly every part of our lives depends on this multitrillion-dollar industry," she says, "and it didn't have a data platform." So, Menker built one. Her company, Gro Intelligence, pulls global agricultural data from thousands of data sets, and then uses artificial intelligence to create forecasts for supply, demand, and pricing. "We recruited and built our team with extreme intention. Diversity was in our DNA from day one. Creating a culture that allows for collaboration between people of extremely different backgrounds allows you to accomplish things that can otherwise seem impossible." . For a little #tbt, I wanted to share this gorgeous photo of the #kaufmannsclock I found in an old Civic Light Opera book that I bought years ago from @calibanbookshop for $1. There were a number of beautiful old Pittsburgh photos in the book (though the book itself was in rough shape) that I cut out and framed and now have hanging in my home. This one from sometime in the 1940’s is by far my favorite and I love how the life of a city was captured in this moment. Today’s repo...rt by @tim_allovertown that the @kaufmannsgrandonfifth apartments at this location have entered into a new management agreement with @greystarapartments had me thinking of this photo and how the cities and buildings that we love are constantly changing and evolving. It’s good to look back and see where we’re coming from as we move forward to where we’re going next. Wishing all parties well as they enter into the next chapter for this iconic site. : unknown- if you have any leads, would love to know and give proper credit! #meetmeattheclock #kaufmanns #pittsburgh #cityphotography #cityliving #urbanplanning #urbandevelopment #urbanrenewal #urbanredevelopment #pittsburghcre #412project #steelcity #steelcitygrammers #pittsburghclo #pittsburghthenandnow #pghcre #downtownpittsburgh

Honoring the victims, survivors and heroes of 9/11/2001 is not a passive commitment to be shared one day a year. It is an active pledge, one that includes public health policies to protect and care for those still living with long term repercussions associated with working at Ground Zero. If we truly mean Never Forget then we must support COVID-19 recommendations and procedures that protect the vulnerable. This includes the first responders and site crews who searched thro...ugh and cleared the wreckage without adequate PPE, exposing them to toxic dust and debris that resulted in long term respiratory issues for so many. Supporting COVID-19 site safety procedures and precautions is remembering 9/11 - it does so by protecting those who survived from another tragedy, and by showing that we’ve learned from the mistakes that were made and can prevent unnecessary exposures through providing and using PPE. #neverforget #september11 #covid19 #wtc #groundzero #firstresponders #sitesafety #ppe #osha #environmentalhealthandsafety #constructionsafety #missingthem #Repost @wsj with @make_repost New Yorkers exposed to caustic dust and toxic pollutants in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks suffer from dozens of medical conditions, ranging from asthma to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancers. These are all dangerous underlying conditions that can make a case of Covid-19 far more serious, according to doctors at the World Trade Center Health Program at Mount Sinai, part of a federal program to track responders’ health. Recent data from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which tracks the long-term health of more than 86,000 9/11 responders and survivors, show there have been more than 1,400 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with nearly 200 hospitalizations and 44 deaths. Those numbers only reflect a sample of the total population in the program. Read more at the link in our bio. Photo: Shawn Baldwin/AP
