Day 90 Hunger Strike! This beautiful art really depicts my inner me. The weight of my heart , the cracks, will not fail as long as I got the strength to keep it... lifted and held together. Notice the fire from the glow of the halo under the feet... Duquesne invited me to unity of prayer, on campus, this Sunday, my son’s 2 yr mark. I accepted the invite with a request to participate in the remembrance of my son! It make no sense for me to be there and not offer my own words of encouragement to the students. I am waiting for a response from the school. In the meantime, our press release team released the below statement regarding the purchase of Duquesne University body cameras (Demand #2). We still have much work to do...keep praying and let’s keep disrupting the system of complicity! Mothers voices matters and protection of our students/children is our priority! https://drive.google.com//1kI0xyRCb9wrNyqch9MCIQEafI/view

[Image Text] The Thomas Merton Center Board of Directors has voted to temporarily suspend publication of The NewPeople newspaper, as of September 21, 2020. Given current work developing a strategic plan that will guide future implementation of the Center’s mission, and how the pandemic has severely limited distribution of the paper beyond our membership, the Board decided the moment was right for rethinking The NewPeople’s overall purpose, forms of publication and distribu...tion, nature of content, and organization of the labor needed to produce a quality publication. In coming months staff, board members, and volunteers will address a number of challenges faced by The NewPeople, including the need to grow our audience, increase unique, impactful content, integrate the newspaper with the Center’s other activities, and recruit and retain a diverse group of volunteers capable of maintaining production and distribution. The NewPeople has a long and often illustrious history of informing and energizing Pittsburgh’s activist communities. During that history the publication has mutated in ways that have reflected the Thomas Merton Center’s evolving mission, concerns, and resources. The Center’s Board regards the current pause in publication as one step among many intended to ensure our organization’s future effectiveness as a relevant voice for peace, equity, and social justice in western Pennsylvania.

"Now imagine that the police didn’t make you return the TV to the original owner. You just had to face the fact that your TV was a good deal because it was stolen. That’s white privilege. No one’s asking you to return the TV. They’re just asking you to not ignore the fact that your good deal came at a cost to someone else." "Our courts have unlawfully and inhumanely turned life with parole sentences into life without parole sentences by ruling life imprisonment is a minimum sentence. Based on this barefaced lie, thousands of people who accidentally, unintentionally, or otherwise inadvertently caused the death of a fellow human being, men and women who didn’t actually kill anyone, truly remorseful and rehabilitated lifers who aged out of crime decades ago, and wrongfully convicted innocent individuals have all been denied liberty and justice over the past half-century by being stripped of their basic right to periodic parole reviews." "The book covers the entire history of the nuclear age from the 1940s to the present fire and fury like the world has never seen nuclear threats of Donald Trump. The amount of detail on generals, presidents and other high army and government figures that the book covers is staggering and challenging to the reader." From Ms. Dannielle Brown: "Duquesne this is sad for the students, faculty, and alumni! No other school complained! You lie about everything!!! Show us the complaints? Hundreds? disruptive? Not safe? We social distanced and we all had mask. For God sake we were at the football field and dorm...no where near a classroom! The false narratives from this institution MUST STOP!!!!!... Duquesne still don’t have body cameras and no intentions of meeting my demands. The reality is they are taking your tuition money and disrespecting you guys in the process. Shame on you!!! What about my son????? Where is the accountability to the students??? What about the student life that was saved and you never said thank you??? She cared enough to speak up, march with us, and raised a fist!!!! Duquesne where is you empathy for this mother??? I feel so bad for the students and the African American community. I am literally crying for your people right now!!! Truth: The reality is COVID does not come from protest. Your students will get it from classrooms and socializing in college dorm rooms! These people were guest of mine. You said I can come and visit my son’s bench anytime! Why are you making matters worst by provoking the students and peaceful protestors. This is our first time going from college to college...but you chose to fight? Instead of being Christian??? Shame on you! It’s not finished. BTW I am still starving at your gate 70 days! Where is your humility?? You being patient with me as if my life don’t matter and I am just an annoyance Duquesne your true colors are showing and I will keep exposing you! I will keep loving your students and wanting better for them! Justice and Equality for all!!! Share until your fingers fall off!!!!
