Newton Township's DPW is having trouble accessing roads for plowing due to cars being left on the roadway. Please be aware that the township has an ordinance that requires ALL cars need to be removed from the township roads. Section 126-14 Parking Prohibited... The parking of any vehicle on the travel-way and/or shoulder of any Township Road is prohibited. This restriction shall apply to any part of a vehicle, which extends onto or over any part of the travel-way and/or shoulder.

Newton and Ransom Township Residents: Living in a rural area gives us many things including space, quietness, openness, relaxation and views that we just can not get living in suburban areas. Along with these benefits, we also give up some comforts such as cable and internet access. Since becoming a supervisor in Newton Township 11 years ago, we have battled with Comcast to update and add service to locations in our township. We consulted with a law firm out of Pittsburgh ...who specializes in the tech industry but still could not get anywhere with Comcast. The argument made by Comcast always centered around population density. They would not be willing to lay out the expense of building infrastructure since Newton Township doesn't have the population and the fact that we have less than 3k people spread out over 20+ miles of road frontage. As for other options, Frontier has been dismal with providing a reliable service. So what are we to do? A new option is available called Starlink. Created by Elon Musk, I recommend residents take the time to at least research and explore the opportunity for better internet service. I am not even sure if it is available yet, but the little research I did on it, it does seem to be live as of today. -Doug Pallman, Newton township Supervisor https://www.starlink.com/
