KRob posted this today and Renee Saw this today and it resonated with me enough that it was my journal writing topic for the day. Maybe it’s old age (somehow I’ve gone from the kid with smarts and talent to the old guy at the company overnight ) but it’s amazing how much calm means to me now. ... I consciously and subconsciously crave it. Nearly two years ago I decided my one word mantra was going to be simplicity. What made my life simpler? And say yes to things that did. And no to things that didn’t. Now my new word might be calm. There seems to be so little calm today in the world, in social media, in people’s lives. As I was headed into the home office with my cup of coffee this morning Kayla said hey... do you want to meditate before you get started. My natural knee jerk response was man I’d love to but.... (insert I’m so busy or so much to do or some other non calming answer). And I paused and said yes... yes I would. She helped me find more calm today. In my journal I spent some time reminding myself that calm doesn’t mean I’m less effective. It doesn’t mean I have less intensity. It just means I’m in a state to think clearly. It means I have fewer distractions. Which actually makes me more effective. Not everyone is the same. But a lot of people I’ve trained with in boxing or jujitsu are SO much more effective when they slow down. Remain calm. They can see things happening. Feel things they might miss if they were amped up and in the chaos. If you’ve got good tips on helping achieve calm let me know. I’m gunna need them. I can be a pretty intense guy. lol If you’re struggling finding your calm. Just know your not alone and say yes to one thing today that will bring you calm. Might be as simple as a cup of coffee on the porch, making desert from scratch or reading for the pleasure of reading for 10 min.
