In observance of Memorial Day the Township Offices and Yard Waste will be closed Monday May 31, 2021. Memorial Day is an important day for all of us as it serves as a reminder to honor and remember those who have valiantly fought for and served this country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our first Clean Earth event partnered with South Whitehall Township Parks and Recreation! Together we saved 38,862.00 pounds from being collected and diverted into the landfill.

Starting today the Township is once again collecting new unopened gifts for Toys for Tots. You can drop your donations at our Municipal building Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4 pm. This week we will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday. Thank you once again for your continued generosity!

The Township is seeking a resident volunteer for the Farmland Preservation Board and a qualified candidate to join the staff as a Planning Assistant / Special Project Coordinator. Beware of Scam Text Messages about Economic Impact Payments The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is warning about the latest scheme from fraudsters to steal your financial information. The text message reads as follows: You have received a direct deposit of $1,200 from COVID-19 TREAS FUND. Further action is required to accept this payment into your account. The message links to a fake site mimicking IRS’s Get My Payment tool. Do not respond to the text or open the link. Instead, take a screen shot and e-mail it to the IRS at [email protected]. Include the date and time you received the text.

Trexler Nature Preserve 2020 Master Plan Announcement The second public meeting for the Trexler Nature Preserve 2020 Master Plan Update will take place virtually December 3, 2020, 7pm-9pm (see link below). Project consultants Simone Collins Landscape Architecture & Applied Ecological Services will:... Present the Draft Master Plan Discuss the master plan process to-date Review draft ecological, trail, facility, and signage recommendations. Lehigh County began the process to update the 2006 master plan in June. Since that time the consultant team has worked closely with the County, Wildlands Conservancy, the project steering committee, and the public to assess and analyze the complex ecology, trail systems, and existing facilities within the Preserve. Once completed, the master plan will serve as a guiding document to help Lehigh County protect and enhance the ecological and manmade elements of the Preserve for present and future generations. The Ironton Rail Trail Levans Rd trailhead parking lot and the gravel portion of the trail from Levans Rd to Portland Road will be closed beginning Monday November 16, 2020 (weather depending) for crews to pave the trail. It is anticipated that this work may take up to two weeks.

Due to the loss of daylight and daylight savings time, the hours of operation of the Compost Center have been revised on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through the end of November. The new hours are as follows: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 9am - 5pm Wednesday and Friday 7am - 2pm

NWT 2020 curbside fall leaf collection has begun. On October 19th our Public Works crew started making routine trips through out the township collecting leaves. The last day for leaf collection will be Monday December 7th. Please do not place any heavy objects on top of piles to weigh them down or place leaves over or on storm water related items.

With the announcement of Superintendent Richard Sniscak’s retirement at the close of the 2020-2021 school year, the Parkland Board of School Directors has begun... a search process to facilitate finding a successor superintendent for the District. Lehigh county just dropped off the ballot box. You can drop off your ballots Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. The township is only hosting the ballot box, if you have any questions please contact the Lehigh County Office of Elections.

Yard Waste Recycling Attendant (Part-Time) The Township is looking for a part-time attendant to work the yard waste facility located at 3256 Levans Road, Coplay PA 18037. The attendant must be willing to work outside and enjoy interaction with the public.... Additional responsibilities include watching closely for prohibited items, opening and closing the center and maintaining minimal records The recycling center is closed on Sunday's, Monday's and holidays.
