During last year's major snow storm, Erie Firefighters responded to carbon monoxide calls where they found that exhaust pipes for high efficiency furnaces were ...covered by snow, leading to elevated levels of carbon monoxide. With uncertain forecast for snow this weekend, please keep in mind to try to keep your exhaust pipe clear of snow if at all possible. In addition to our initial post, we have had several people post that newer high efficiency furnaces have safety features that will shut off the furnace if the intake or exhaust are blocked. Please also keep this in mind if your furnace stops working. See more
