A very special thank you to the Chester County Community Foundation for their generous donation of $2,000 to provide grocery gift cards to the families in our program. Food insecurity is something no family should experience and the ongoing pandemic continues to create additional challenges for vulnerable families in our communities. Having access to groceries keeps families fed but also eliminates the need to dine out, which is something many are still hesitant to do. We have already distributed $1,000 in gift cards to our families with more on the way! Today is #internationalwomensday2021. A disproportionate number of jobs lost during the pandemic have been held by women, leading many experts to refer to this economic downturn as a "shecession." Today, we choose to highlight this issue faced by women around the world while we continue to support, and advocate for, the hardworking single parent women in our program. While we do serve single fathers, more than 90% of the families in our program are led by single women. We will continue to support them through this pandemic and beyond.
