We closed the gardens today for the winter. Thanks to all of you for cleaning out your garden on your own. Of course, we still had a lot of gardeners who did not, and a lot of waste of veggies not used or given away. On the bright side, we had two gardeners who grew for the food bank that was much appreciated. If we do that next year you could donate veggies you can’t use ,to go on to the food bank. I had great help this year and want to thank you one and all. I also want... to thank the outreach committee for coming out and helping, weed whacking, mowing, painting beds, filling the water tanks and much more. Thanks to Geoff for getting the memorial done and for Charlotte and Sue for arranging for the plaque, for Sue and Kim for gardening for the food bank. Thanks to Bruce for hauling dirt for the beds in the Spring and filling the beds with it for free, ( that’s 46 beds)for all the little things I ask him to do, he does without complaining, also hauled all those tomato plants away. Thanks for Denny for fixing the message board and for Tom for putting up and taking down the sign out front of the fence. Thank you for gardening with us hope to see you all in the spring. See more

All our gardens now have been filled. We are trying to get the beds painted but the weather is not cooperating. On the other hand I don’t have to fill the water tanks so much. Lots of vegetables have been planted and growing nicely and so are the pesky weeds. Ok , I won’t start nagging about that yet. Enjoy your gardening.

The community garden is up and running. Lettuce, onions, broccoli, cabbages, and radishes planted and nearly time for tomato plants. Be aware birds are liking the lettuce. We, Peggy ,Sue, and I have mowed and weed whacked. Peggy and Sue cleaned up the sidewalk area and I turned over and weeded the gardens not yet attended. Happy planting everybody. There will be rain barrel painting at the church parking lot June 8th. Cost of $35 to participate and for refreshments. The ...first and second garden rain cubes have been filled from the neighbors rain spout. Not really needing to water your garden so far. Garden work day is the second Wed. each month weather permitting. Also a good time to meet your garden neighbors. We also welcome John Seely from empowering lives with young adults who will be happy to help you water and weed if needed but only with the permission of the gardener. They also will help with the upkeep of the garden. We have about 6 beds open get in touch with me through the church # 944-7258 See more

Thanks for getting the weeds out of your gardens when I asked. I know they sneak up you. I practice what I preach, so you will find me and Sue weed whacking tomorrow around the beds and in front Beale Ave side . I am intentionally letting two of our water tanks go empty so we can level them. One is leaning heavily on the fence ,Beale Ave side and the first one at the alley side needs to be leveled up also. The bottom one may need to be jacked up because the last of the water is laying towards the back. Not sure how that is going to happen just yet. God leads me to it and sees me through it. AND I nag like any good women should .

Our gardens are looking great, keep up your good work everybody. Check out the new flowers outside of the fence at the Beale Ave entrance. This was done by Richard a garden neighbor. He put in a lot of hard work and certainly has improved the front of our gardens by his gift . Surely God is in this place. I do get upset when someone picks your vegetables when they shouldn't and have to remind myself what the purpose was for the gardens...it was to feed the hungry and take this ministry of kindness to our neighbors . I feel more blessed by the gardeners most times even as I grumble about digging out the weeds. Yes Lord , I grumble, forgive me.

Most of the gardens looking good. Our garden neighbor is working outside of the garden fence. His name is Richard and wanted to make some flower gardens as a gift to us. So let him know he is appreciated if you see him there. This will beautify our entrance into the veggie gardens. Thanks to all the vegetable growers for making this another good year.

Hello on the first day of spring, snowy though it may be-- I'm anxious for Saturday 5;00 pm sign up day. If you find you can not make it on Saturday, please c...all me before then if you want to keep the garden you had last year. Not letting me know one way or the other may leave your garden open to be given to some one else on Saturday. I'm hoping, though, even if you are late signing up that we will have a space for you. If you get a chance to see Bruce, please thank him for bringing us 2 loads of top soil that he unloaded into a wheelbarrow from his truck and wheeled it to the garden beds that needed it. Thanks from me for sure. My next thing will be to finish getting the wood on the garden beds painted, and then filling the tanks with water. Due to the weather however, I may have to wait awhile for garden chores and hop on my sled for a sled ride down the lane. Spring will come without me wishing my life away. Enjoy the day we are given now. Even if it is sitting at a window and enjoying the beauty of the day. Spring will be here soon enough.
