2021 Nurse Faculty Scholars/AJN Mentored Writing Award contest Deadline 5/1/21 This is an annual program to promote mentorship and develop scholarly writing skills among nurses. The program is open to all RNs. Each candidate, working with a mentor, will develop and submit a paper to AJN. The winner will receive a certificate and a $500 award. The mentee must be the first author of the submitted paper and must not have previously published as first author in a peer-reviewed j...ournal. The mentee can be an RN at any level of practice (a clinical staff nurse, an RN pursuing a degree, or a faculty member, for example). The mentor can be from nursing or another profession, but should have previously published in a peer-reviewed journal. Submitted papers will go through AJN’s standard review process. An awards committee, which includes AJN editors and Nurse Faculty Scholars, will choose the winning paper from the accepted submissions. Disseminating Facts, Dispelling Myths Building COVID Vaccine Confidence in Communities According to a December poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation, over 1/4 of respondents overall say that it’s likely they will not get the COVID-19 vaccine. Also, 33% of essential workers and 29% of those who work in health care delivery express hesitancy as well. Worries about safety and misinformation about side effects, lack of trust because of political influence or the race to develop...ment seem to be the primary reasons given. This webinar will provide a grounding in the facts about the current vaccines and a discussion by a panel on their experiences and work with communities in providing public health information.
