If asked if you have a critical spirit, would you pass the test? What are the first ten thoughts you have when you leave church, a family gathering, or work? Do you find yourself saying things like, "I can't believe they did this;" "That person can be so stupid;" "Why in the world would they do it like that?" If you answered yes to any of these you may be plagued by a critical spirit. Critical spirits poison everything they touch, from friendships, relationships with co-workers, marriages, and even how you parent. The good news is there is help and hope in Jesus. Tune in as Pastor Chris unpacks the dangers of a critical spirit as well as providing practical guidance in how to eradicate it from your life. May you be encouraged by this powerful message that concludes the Mind Games Series: Exchanging Lies for the Truth of God.
In lieu of the message this past week, check out this blog post by Pastor Chris from July 2019: https://pastorchrisleiby.wordpress.com//do-you-suffer-fro/
October 25 is the 40th anniversary celebration for DOVE International! Please view this short video for details. https://youtu.be/PxQNQzY-BAc
Today marks our 40th year since the first DOVE church was started with just 25 believers near Brickerville, Pennsylvania. We are amazed at the grace and faithfulness of our God over the years! Today, the DOVE family of churches includees more than one thousand churches in twenty-seven nations. Only God could do this. And if He can use us, He can use anyone! If you have received a vision from the Lord, trust Him to fulfill it. He will do it in His time. Refuse to quit. You can trust Him. We are so thankful for all of you and for the kind words from the following brothers, leaders and friends of DOVE International. https://www.youtube.com/playlist
Story time and playdough fun in the pre-school class this morning
Famed Poet Maya Angelou once cited, "Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. It doesn’t do anything to the object of its displeasure." This is the reality of what happens when we give ourselves over to bitterness. The writer of Hebrews warns, "See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no 'root of bitterness' springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled" (Hebrews 12:15 ESV). Bitterness poisons everything it touches but it doesn't always appear in obvious forms. As we continue our series Mind Games, Pastor Chris teaches on three key issues that bitterness causes in our lives as well as 5 steps to eradicate it from our hearts. Tune in and be challenged in this important area of spiritual growth as you journey with Jesus.
Food for thought. https://www.facebook.com/500504308/posts/10158909391269309/
Researchers have found that of the 12,000-60,000 thoughts the average person has per day, 80% are negative and not just a byproduct of current events. If we are not soaking in what God says about us, we can run the risk of infecting our mind with toxic thoughts that poison our relationships, and cause us to isolate, alienate, and adopt ungodly beliefs that will govern our lives. No wonder so many are crippled by anxiety that causes them to lose sleep, develop ulcers, have heart issues, and create even more stress. Tune in to this second message in the series Mind Games where Pastor Chris unpacks the mindset of anxiety, discusses what the Bible has to say about this, and how we can overcome anxiety with God's help.
Join us tomorrow starting at 10am for Freedom Sunday 2020 where we will look at how we as the Church can make a difference in the fight to end human trafficking. Just a reminder that all offerings, i.e. donations above and beyond our tithes, will be given to IJM (International Justice Mission). Come and be challenged to get involved in this important work.
