If I could impart one lesson to the general public about preservation, it would be that it's not about fancy mansions and places where famous dead guys slept. It's about people and community and empowering people to make their communities better, more inclusive, more healthy, fun, and vibrant. That is what I love about this city! All our differences make us GREAT!
This past Sunday would have marked the 44th Old Allentown Historic House Tour. You just never know how much you miss something until its gone - We missed seeing everyone walking around our neighborhood, enjoying the architectural heritage of our district. Our home owners missed the opportunity to have tour patrons discover the charm and beauty hiding behind the facades, and most of all the organization missed the security of knowing that the House Tour revenue would fund man...y future programs to come. Without House Tour revenue some of our programs may not be as robust in the coming year. Such projects may include, continued Street Tree planting, continued mini-grants for neighborhood beautification, litter abatement and on-going pocket park maintenance / improvement. We want to thank those who have kindly donated to the organization in lieu of House Tour patronage this year. There is still time to donate if you would like to help support our organization so that we can continue to carry out our mission to promote urban living and protect our architectural heritage. Donations can be sent via paypal - Send to [email protected] Please be sure to send it as payment to friends and family so that a service charge is not taken out of your donation. Or send a check to 147 N 10th Street Allentown, PA 18102 Another way to support the legacy of our district is to become an Old Allentown Member. For $25 Individual/$40 Household/$15 Senior and Student annually, members receive invitations to exclusive OAPA events, discounted house tour tickets, opportunity to join one of our neighborhood committees, and notices regarding zoning hearings in the neighborhood. Memberships can be renewed by sending paypal payment to [email protected] or sending a check or cash to 147 N 10th Street Allentown, PA 18102. Old Allentown is a non-profit charitable organization - donations are tax deductible. For more information please e-mail us at [email protected]

2020 Old Allentown House Tour Cancelled. It is with great regret that we inform you of the decision to cancel the 2020 Old Allentown House Tour. We do not believe that the timing of the event is in our favor amidst such uncertainty associated with the COVID 19 crisis. For those that were looking forward to attending, we promise that next year will be a grand event that you won’t want to miss! As most of you know, the annual House Tour is our single largest fundraising event a...nd this decision will have a profound impact on the fulfillment of our mission. Through our amazing corporate sponsors, patrons and tickets sales, the House Tour amounts to nearly 1/3 of our annual revenue. Please consider making a separate gift or contribution if you are able to help offset the impact of missing our signature event. As a reminder OAPA is a registered charitable organization and in most cases your gift is tax deductible. Please also continue to support Old Allentown through annual memberships so that you can stay in the know about upcoming announcements and events. We are anxious to get back to our regular programming! Memberships and contributions can be made through Paypal- (you must have your own PayPal account). Send to [email protected] Please be sure to send it as payment to friends and family so that a service charge is not taken out of your membership. Or send a check to 147 N 10th Street Allentown, PA 18102
The City of Allentown issued a Press Release regarding the regulation of fireworks in the City. They encourage everyone to do the following to protect the quality of life in your neighborhood: Call or email our state legislators found here https://www.allentownpa.gov/Government/Fireworks to tell them you want to protect quality of life in your neighborhood by ridding it from the dangers of hazardous consumer grade fireworks.
