Right about this time of year, we’re usually working on our holiday travel plans. This year sure is different. So as we work on our new normal plans, we’re also thinking up fun alternative uses for our vintage luggage. Here are a couple of ideas: - Open one up, put a pillow in it, and use it as a dog bed Stack a set of 2-3 and use as a nightstand or side table Fill them with extra clutter and set them on top of cupboards or cabinets ... Stack them, add some wheels to the bottom and a tray to the top and you have a cool bar cart Use a large suitcase or trunk as a coffee table - Vintage luggage can be so charming displayed around the house. In the times before refriger...ation, crocks were used in American kitchens to hold things like butter, salted meats and pickled vegetables. Most of the time, they were made of stoneware, which was a durable and economical ceramic that can remain water-tight even without a glaze. Often, you can find a number on a crock that is either painted or stamped on. This is used to indicate the size or volume of the crock. For example a 3 could mean that the crock holds 3 gallons.
