Tackle Talk for this week... With the Susquehanna River conditions high above normal and off color this past week from recent heavy rain storms upstream, anglers who can brave these elements are having success catching all species species including several nice walleye below the Adam Bower Dam and the Shady Nook area. Fishing has been best along the shoreline and at the edge of fast moving water. Old Trail 3-1/2 inch salted tubes, Rebel, Storm lures , and Case Magic Stiks are... producing some nice fish. Anglers seem to be reporting some great hook ups further south of us, the areas between McKee’s Half Falls and Liverpool have been very productive. Better fishing should gradually work its way upstream as the water conditions and weather improve. Recent showers have muddied up most of the local feeder streams producing some good channel and flathead fishing where the streams enter the river. The baits of choice for large catfish have been large live nightcrawlers, 5-inch sunfish and pike shiners fished on #10/0 or 12/0 circle hooks fished close to shore in deeper holes. Anglers are reporting all local lakes have good water flow and are producing some large fish of all species. See more

Tackle Talk for this week... Recent rain has increased water levels on the Susquehanna River and changed the depth and color of the water. Lures in smoke, motor oil, and chartreuse will catch fish. Some bass are being caught in the backwater areas on medium shiners, top water lures, and butterworms. Channel and flathead catfishing has been fairly good with large pike shiners, sunfish(4-inch) in size, live nightcrawlers, and chicken livers are working well. Most trout anglers ...are doing well and reporting most streams are in good condition. Fly hatches have been ahead of schedule but the rain and cooler nights should slow things down a bit. Spruce Run and White Deer Creek in Union County, Mahantango Creek, and the upper part of Mahoning Creek in Montour County are giving up large numbers of nice size trout including a good number of some in the 20 inch range. Butterworms, gold mealworms, and waxworms have been the live baits of choice. Spinners and small floating lures have been working well in some areas. See more

Tackle Talk for this week... Water levels on the Susquehanna River are still low. The bags are all deflated at the Adam Bower Dam but anglers are reporting some good fishing in the deeper holes. Walleye action around the Adam Bower Dam and the PP&L dams has been fair for anglers fishing this time of year. The walleye are mostly in the deep holes and channels below the dams. Some larger walleye in the 20 inch range have been taken at the dams in the past several weeks. Daytime... fishing for walleye has been slow while late evening and early morning hours have been the most productive. Large live shiners are producing some good catches. Large stickbaits in brighter colors such as clown and firetiger from different companies are working well. Small bass fishing has been fair this past weekend and should pick up as the water becomes colder. Some anglers have been catching quite a few. Medium live shiners and twist tail grubs in smoke and motor oil are working well. Some large channel and flatheads have been caught using catfish bites and blood baits fished on treble hooks. Muskie fishing has been productive from Stielys Campground south to McKees Half Falls with most being found in deeper holes. See more

Tackle Talk for this week... The Susquehanna River is in decent conditions for this time of year. Fishing at the Adam Bower Dam has been fair. Medium live shiners and 3-inch rubber twisters in smoke and motor oil are working well. The Shady Nook area south to Hoover’s Island has been producing some nice fish and the baits of choice have been Old Trail 3-1.2 inch salted tubes, shallow diving lures and large live shiners. Anglers are reporting some nice walleye and smallmouth b...ass being taken at several of the popular locations on the Susquehanna River. A few muskies have been caught on jerk baits and bulldogs. Most area trout streams are in good fishing condition. Dry flies that are working well are brown stoneflies size 18 and white sulphurs (size 12 & 14) . The recent good weather has helped streams and the Susquehanna River produce some nice fish of every species and is bringing a lot of fishermen out. See more
